We needed a one night stay on our way home from Oregon and found this little jewel just off I-5. Far enough off the freeway there was no road noise at all. We booked a Thursday night online two days before in early October and got the last RV site. It was a full hookup, 28 ft. pull through site. The one we had was in the center of the park and pretty close to other sites. There were sites on the outer edge of the park that were more spacious and private.
The campground itself had a nice little store, game-room and laundry room. The public bathrooms had access codes and they were very nice. The free internet wasn’t very strong though. We couldn’t stream any movies and cell reception was poor but better with the internet. It was ok with us as after all, we were in a mountainous area.
There is a separate resort section that has lots of converted caboose cars rented as cabins. Very cool! That’s where the train car restaurant and bar are located. This is a short walk from the RV area. Absolutely loved the nostalgia there and the staff were wonderful and friendly. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast there and thought the food was excellent!
There were two things I hadn’t seen mentioned in any other reviews. There is a nearby real train that comes by periodically. It was part of the ambiance of the place but did wake me at 7:30 am. It was not a big deal for us. The other thing was the recent addition of a children’s train that offers a tour of the resort and campground areas. It was so cute to see it full of families driving past our RV.
We love this campground and will definitely return!

This was our first campground experience with our previous travel trailer (34' Dutchmen Atlas). Our first night, we were in site #1. Slightly unlevel, but we were just doing an overnight. Second visit, we were on our way home and stopped back here for one night because we enjoyed the scenery with the trees and hills. We selected site #23 and it was much better than #1. It was very spacious. We visited the pool, the train, and the restaurant. The pool was very nice, but packed. Again, lots of wild kids in the hot tub...with their parents. Our kid was with us, but we teach him common courtesy of others when trying to relax in a hot tub. Rambunctious activities are for the pool. The restaurant, I would rate 2-3 stars. I would rate 4-5 for the decor, but 2-3 for the food and a 2 for the service. Service was slow, food was bland and "decent", but the decor was super cute! I would def return to this park for the close proximity to I-5, the landscape (trees/hills), and full hookups! Next time, I would make sure and arrive on-time since we were charge $5 for being an hour early, even though the previous campers had already vacated. I would also not visit the restaurant for food. I would def go and hang out at the bar, it looked so cool and the bartender was friendly.

Note things have changed greatly over the last couple of years regarding pricing. A basic dirt FU site with 30 amp now cost $84 per night. –Yikes! PLUS be aware of their 20% non-refundable booking fee that is non-refundable.

Walking around the park was fun and seeing the train cars was an added treat. We would definitely stay here again.

3) The sound of the creek nearby was lovely.
Cons:
1) Terrible cell coverage. If you need to work while traveling you will not get a strong enough cell coverage if you are using mobile internet.
2) There wifi didn’t work from our site. It was very weak.
3) The bathrooms were getting remodeled and there was only one portable bathroom for the entire campground and the handicap stall was locked and they made it so even the handicapped people couldn’t get access to it unless they complained about it.
4) A bit of a drive from Mount Shasta and the town.

Very quiet although all sites were occupied because the USFS campgrounds were closed because of fire concerns. Restrooms were very clean. Sites were fairly well spaced out.

When we hear the word "resort" we imagine chock-o-block sites with slideouts on big rigs 5' away from us. Just not our style... we were pleasantly surprised to see the campground was actually a campground and the fun little "resort" of old train cabooses and small cabins was a little walk away. The resort was rustic and incredibly cool to walk around the train cars and old train parts.
It was hot, so we reserved a hook up site (rare for us), but we wanted power. We found a nice pull through site online, drove in to the campground, found our name on a list, pulled in and we were set up. We could hear the creek from our site, had beautiful trees all around, no one in front of us, cooled off in the creek, enjoyed breakfast in the dining car in the morning, and had decent cell service. I think there was only 2 or 3 other sites taken - we stayed her late August, 2019. Would love to come back & just hang out for a few days. Easy access off the 5, but for some weird reason I had always pictured this on the other side of the freeway.
