First time on this beach. We plan to make this a fall annual trip. Surf fishing, seals and solitude at night. Incredible sunsets.

“Beach On Camping in the Cape Code National Seashore”

The Cape Cod National Seashore allows camping on the beach at Race Point, up on the northern tip of Cape Cod by Provincetown. In full disclosure I didn't get to camp, but I walked out on the beach to check it out. The camping is literally on the beach, feet from the ocean. Camping season is from April to November.
The reason I didn't get to camp is there are specifications your rig needs to meet in order to camp and my tires are a tiny bit too narrow. And yes, they look that closely. If you meet the specifications this is an amazing place to camp.
The permit costs $75 for seven nights of camping. There is a limit of 100 camping permits in use but from asking around this isn't an issue except for on the busiest holiday weekends. Head to the ORV Ranger Station at Race Point to get your inspection and buy your permit. At the inspection station they will make sure you meet all the specifications listed here: https://www.nps.gov/caco/cape-cod-national-seashore-oversand-beach-driving.htm.
The main specifications are that you have a fully contained vehicle (no camping trailers allowed) with factory installed grey and blackwater tanks, that you meet the tire size (including your spare tire) listed, and that you carry a shovel, fire extinguisher, tow strap, jack, and board for stabilizing a jack. You also need to leave every 72 to dump your tanks.
Before you write this off because you maybe have a big RV, check again. There were sizable Class A's out there. From what I gather there is a big "Race Point ORV" culture with people returning year after year, and happy to help newbies get on the beach and set up.
