Reservations were easy on the Ontario Parks website. No problem getting a site last minute in mid-September. The only difficulty is that it is called Lake Superior Provincial Park on the website instead of Rabbit Blanket Lake. The road in was short but rough and narrow. The sites are thickly wooded. There is a picnic table and fire pit. Electrical was by the road so an extension cord was necessary. Only standard 15 A service was available. No cable or antenna TV. The camp is close to Old Woman beach and 40 km from Wawa and Magpie Falls. AT&T had 2 bars. We used it as a stopover on the trans-Canada highway for which it was serviceable.

Website says there is drinking water available… BUT… the water coming out of the spigots is red with rust and iron. Luckily we had enough in reserve to get us through. And… electric… technically there is electric at the sites… but it’s not at the sites. There is a pole between sites at the road that has 15 and 30 amp. We have two 25 feet power cords and it wasn’t enough to reach. We had 20 amp cord that did. Good thing it wasn’t hot and we didn’t need the AC. That being said, we would stay there again in a heartbeat. The sites were big with at least some privacy. Some more than others. The showers are clean but the way the shower head is set up, everything in there gets wet. They are free and the water is hot. There is a washer and dryer at the comfort station. $2 loonies for wash and dry. There was no one at the entry shack when we arrived so we set up and went to check in later. No internet and spotty cell service. The lake is nice. Had we been there longer we would have launched our kayaks.

This campground is at the north end of Lake Superior PP (about an hour from Visitor Center) and on an interior lake. There was a beach but there were leeches so we didn’t use it. One of the Lake Superior beaches was about 10-15 minutes away.
We came to Lake Superior PP to hike and were not disappointed. We could do 2 hikes right from our campground - one with a view and one along a creek with rapids. The park is very long, so we had a bit of a drive for the rest of our hikes. We really enjoyed Sand River - easy, short hike with lots of waterfalls and hiking along the Coastal Trail with its views.
Our site was very spacious - room even for a game of bolo - and pretty private. The sites are spaced out nicely with lots of trees in between. We had a grouse come by a few times to snack on the berries of one of the trees surrounding our site. Washrooms, laundry and showers were all clean.
Unfortunately, because it is an interior lake, you don’t get the spectacular Lake Superior sunsets that you would get at Agawa Bay but we also wouldn’t fit there. Although the campground is just off Hwy 17, we did not have any road noise. We had 3 bars of Rogers but no wifi.
A swimmable beach and sunsets would have given it a 5.
