R93 Road Dispersed Camping

Rita Blanca National Grassland unit next to rancher property off Allen Lane and 807 behind barb wire gate. Good for a one night stay. One of the local ranchers stopped by to check on me (Lynn Allen) and gave me his number in case of an emergency. He was friendly and asked me to not drive on the grassland and to not use open flames due to dry conditions. Just stay on the dirt road or right next to it. I parked right inside the gate. Cows next door are sometimes allowed to graze here, but no smell. Very quiet out here and saw a beautiful sunset. Had very good 5G signal with AT&T.

Came upon this spot using the MVUM for the national grasslands. This area is grasslands interspersed with private property so it can sometimes be hard to discern which is which. If you’re not familiar with traveling Texas, know there will often be closed gates across dirt roads due to cattle grazing. This was one such site. You can open the gates as long as they aren’t painted purple and don’t say “no trespassing” just be sure to close it behind you!!! Cattle were grazing in this field but it was clearly part of the grasslands thanks to the map/signage. We drove in off Allen Road (Allan on the MVUM) also called “I” on google maps. Accessed through the gate on the right. Gorgeous spot for a one night stop over if you’re passing through. That’s probably all it’s good for.
