This area is tucked off a small gravel road from the rest area. Nice size dispersed camping sites that are spaced appropriately. Gravel road takes you quite a ways back and access to several lakes and ponds. yes was a nice fine for overnight camping on our way to the next destination.

Overall Rating
Great place! Very tranquil. Right off of I-40, but it’s a relatively soft white noise. I stayed at the first spot on the left. There’s there a spot at the road, but I recommend driving down the little hill then your right by the lake. Verizon’s good. T-Mobile’s iffy. You can camp for free, gosh, even swim. Very private.

There are a group of dry campsites widely spaced. The site closest to the I-40 rest area has a bit of traffic noise. One of the ponds is filled with Lotus.

Huge, shaded site that could easily accommodate any sized rig, nice and flat as well. It was quite muddy after the previous days’ rain. Nice overlook to a body of water twenty or so feet below. If I had to guess, say there was a game show called “Guess How Many Cigarette Butts There Are!”, I would guess 300 at this site alone. S... more
Huge, shaded site that could easily accommodate any sized rig, nice and flat as well. It was quite muddy after the previous days’ rain. Nice overlook to a body of water twenty or so feet below.
If I had to guess, say there was a game show called “Guess How Many Cigarette Butts There Are!”, I would guess 300 at this site alone.
Significant traffic noise can be heard as well. Nobody drove by this spot the entire night.
