Ok, after you pass the Yankee Fork Gold Dredge on Yankee Fork Rd, you will come across 3 dispersed camping areas before you hit the ghost town of Custer. We stayed at the middle one after unsuccessfully trying to back into the 3rd one(the first one was pretty occupied). It was a super tight fit getting in with our 45ft toy hauler so be prepared to kiss a few trees on the way in! Very bumpy too. Swing that right turn in as wide as you can to setup a straight shot in to the site otherwise you'll be hitting trees. Did I mention it was bumpy? Take it slow.
There is 0 cell service here. We got a little Verizon service inside of the Yankee Fork Gold Dredge)great tour BTW) and better Verizon service at Sunbeam Village. For anything else you'll need to drive 30 minutes into Stanley.
This is a good spot for OHV since there are several Forest Roads and Trails directly accessible from the site.
Make sure to visit the Custer Ghost Town only about 1 mile away. They had fresh eggs for sale there at the "saloon".
We may have stayed longer if we had Starlink!
RichP would stay here again

“Numerous large sites right on the river”

Numerous spots between the ghost towns of Bonanza and Custer right along the river. They can easily handle multiple rigs in each area. A quiet place to hang out for a few days while exploring the ghost towns.
No cell
