Punderson State Park Campground

The park is clean and there is a lot to do, but I found that site 75 was very narrow and muddy. We didn’t spend much time at the campground so the size didn’t much matter to us. Site 75 had 20A electric and a picnic table.

Kids camping with their parents seemed to be having a great time. The dump station and potable water was convenient and easy to access.

Cellular service: AT&T 4G had 3 bars, Verizon 5G 2 bars.

So there were good things and bad things about this park. The bad - spot #1 was pretty much on a hill and we had a very difficult time leveling out our rig. We decided to check out the beach across the way and unfortunately some pet owners left their animals waste all over it and we were unable to enjoy it. We went to the manor to see how much it would cost to swim in one of their pools, $12 a person so we passed. Also very little cell phone service and the WiFi didn’t work. The good- the offer canoe, kayak and paddle board rentals. There were restroom facilities close and clean. They park was really clean and well taken care of (minus the beach). The workers/volunteers were all friendly. The trees provided great shade so we didnt have to run the AC much.

Nice, quiet campground that is empty most of the week then fills up starting Thursday. Be sure to check your specific site you select. Seems the sites that have no water hook up are 15amp sites. There are full hookup sites, just check. Most sites are level enough but some sites are like peninsulas in that there is a slope off away from the pad. Again, just check. Showers are nice although a tad older. The park does keep them clean.
Burton, Middlefield, and Mesopotamia are nice little towns with some nice attractions. CG is only 45 minutes to Cleveland and Little Italy.
There are plenty of trails for hiking, ponds for water activities, and play areas.
For us, at $20 dollars a night it was well worth it.

Our site was right at the entrance, across the parking lot, so not ideal (other than easy in, easy out). The site was plenty big, but took quite a bit to get level. The surroundings and sites around the park are great, and though fairly spread out, can be walkable. Only complaint is that on Sunday night one of the shirtless neighboring campers was quite loud into the wee hours. I would've expected more noise on Saturday night. It just takes one bad apple.

I made a last minute reservation here on Halloween weekend. Must be one of the few campgrounds that doesn't have trick or treat! It was a rainy night, but my site was fairly level and I was pleasantly surprised by the campground the next morning. Lake, movie screen, plenty of sites. Cell service was good for both AT&T and Verizon. I was getting over 20MB down on AT&T when I was watching the Bukeyes game.

Friendly and accommodating. We had mechanical issues with our truck, and needed to stay longer than anticipated. The host moved campers with reservations to alternate spots a few times. Susie and her staff were very helpful. It is a beautiful camp with everything we needed nearby. Any size rig could be accommodated. Good cell service, clean bathrooms and showers.
We will stay here again when in the area!

Disappointed the cell service was so bad at our campsite (1-2 bars Verizon and 1 bar t-mobile). It was better in other parts of the park but working from the RV was difficult because service would cut out. Otherwise a nice campsite. Quiet and nice spacing between sites. Only other complaint is that the bathroom shower curtains were moldy and the shower drained very slow. Had to turn the water off halfway through just to let it drain.

Growing up, I spent countless summer days at the beach and an equal number of winter days on the sledding hill. Neither of those were available during our April stay, of course, although it DID snow. I can't say I would recommend an April RV stay in NE Ohio, but it was the only game in town for our nearby family visit, and the weather made things uncrowded and quiet.

Our site was long enough for the rig, but not the toad, and we had to park it in the overflow lot near the front of the camp loop. While it was nice to have a free/extra space to park it, we don't really like to be separated from our car, especially with the bad weather. Site was also sloped, and we needed blocks to level it front/back.

Family members stayed in one of the park's furnished cabins later in the week when the weather had gone from snow to 80+, and it was nice with two bedrooms, full bath, kitchen and living room, and large screened porch. We had access to the large indoor heated(?) pool, which didn't feel very warm, but had big locker rooms, plenty of guest towels, etc. The patio of the Manor House is a lovely place to enjoy the view and a beverage and/or treat from the restaurant.

There are several hiking trails in the park, including a pleasant boardwalk route.

We got good OATV reception. The restrooms/showers looked clean and serviceable, but we didn't use them during our stay. We had to leave earlier than expected and had no problem getting our balance refunded (minus the res fee.)

Wooded sites with fire pits and picnic tables. Lake access from some sites. Office closes at 5 off season so be sure to get your firewood early. A few snack items available at the office.

During our visit (10/5-6) there was only one restroom open and no water except at the dump site and individual sites. Our site was electric only (no water or waste) with20 amp service.

We would definitely camp here again.
