It was clean but nothing too special. Great overnight.

The best feature of this dispersed camping location is that it is convenient to the west unit of Saguaro National Park. It's also a reasonable drive into Tucson (or Marana for closer shopping). Otherwise it is largely a plain of creosote bush with little else. Access is relatively easy. If you come in on El Tiro Road, it is paved most of the way, with just a mile or two of washboard to finish it off. The spots are spread along N Pump Station Rd north of the intersection with El Tiro. If you have trouble finding a spot, go back to the Glider Port entrance and hang a right. There are a few large spots back there and were not used while most of the spots on Pump Station were taken during our visit.

Plenty of large spaces for all sized rigs. Some washboard on the road in but worth it if you're going to stay a while. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets and the city lights at night.

A warning to those with pets: Last year my dog contracted Valley Fever while staying in this area, a fungal infection whose spores on the ground get disturbed by rains. It's a known disease down here in the Southwest deserts - so if your dog becomes lethargic and not what once he/she was - be sure to keep this in mind. Took many months and a lot of Google warrior searching to finally request a blood test for this fungus and it was positive. Beware!

Disclaimer for this review: We live in Tucson and we stayed here to get some practice boondocking close to home before we take a big trip, so I’m writing this review from that perspective. If I were from out of town and needed a free place to stay reasonably close to I10, this place was fine and I absolutely would stay again. The roads are wide, it’s very accessible and the camping spots were easy to pull through and level. We had full cell coverage the whole time we were there.
Downsides: it’s big open desert and the spots are close enough together and you can see your neighbors and hear their generators. When we were there it was pretty busy (most spots were taken). There was a consistent stream of ATVs blasting down the road. As a Tucson native I can tell you it is close to none of the pretty or the interesting parts of Tucson (my husband disagrees with me, but I know there is closer free camping to the park).

Accessibility: Easily accessible from El Tiro for rigs over 6,000#. Do not recommend Silverbell (even though we made it that way). Very bumpy and small single lane bridge to cross. From El Tiro there’s one round spot on the left, and two good spots on the right closer to Silverbell right on pump station that are good for large TT/5W. We didn’t go further off because we didn’t know if we would be able to turn around, but there were a lot of truck campers/vans/small MHs out there. Saw one 5W further out.
Super quiet and beautiful desert surrounding. Pretty rocky ground so watch doggie paws, wouldn’t run them here or they’ll get tore up. There are fire pits and you’re allowed to use dead wood you find but not allowed to cut anything down. We didn’t use it this time but if you plan to, bring some with you because there isn’t much out there. Very clean area.
