Easy to book online ($6.50 fee for online reservations), it was $35 for out of state campers. We have a 26ft RV, got a full tank of ptaboe water by the main office, found the site easily, backed in easily, hooked up to electricity. The site was clean, picnic table, fire ring. The site was uneven but it's in the mountains and that's why we have leveling blocks. We stayed in a dog friendly area with lots of families. There are really nice trail walks, most of which are easy and 2 miles or less, some are a little boggy but it's hiking in the woods, not the mall. There are a couple of longer trails 6+ miles that we didn't do. There are several equestrian camping areas with open stalls for horses. We don't have horses but we spoke to folks staying there and they love it--they were repeat campers. There were several kayakers and canoers on the lakes. The bathrooms/shower houses are really nice--clean and lots of hot water. The park itself is beautiful and clean, rangers patrol occasionally, and are nice. Overall, beautiful place. There are thousands of rhododendrons here--I wish we could be here to see them blooming, but we'll be elsewhere. Definitely on our list of places to return to.

Stayed one night while traveling to New Hampshire and going back home. Nice state park with a beautiful beach and lake. We were in site 149 with a 26' trailer. The site was a bit tight and out of level but it was private. The price of $48.00 for one night with senior discount was a bit steep. Good power, water and sewer connections.

Lots of nice maintained hiking trails in this park and within a short distance.

We were scheduled to stay here 3 nights, but we left after 1. Like other PA state parks, they allow dogs, but only in specific areas of the campground, which you pay extra for, and then you're stuck only being able to walk your dog around a couple loops of campground road. Be careful when reserving online, because it's not clear at all in the reservation system which sites allow pets. You need to cross reference a PDF map on the park website - the only place they list it in the reservation system is in the fine print. We told the rangers it was confusing, and they just said "Yeah, a lot of people seem confused by that. Happens all the time."
The sites here were crazy unlevel, many of them on a hill with 6% grade or better, and are not well maintained - our was covered in weeds and didn't look like it had been mowed all season, which is crazy given how much they charge.
Sites are mostly electric only with a few full hookup. Rangers aren't particularly friendly, and check in at both PA state parks we stayed at took over 30 minutes.
Pretty location, but not enough in the area to make it worth paying these prices for such crappy sites. Our cost reflects the addition of the online reservation system fee, which is $15 - the highest we've seen in any state park system after 8 months of travel. We wouldn't stay in any PA state parks again.

We were there the beginning of October in the Pickeral Point Campground. The full hookup loop was closed but we could walk through it. At the end of that loop, there is a small beach. Our site had electric only. They also have a few cabins. Everything including the bath houses were new.Would be nice to go there when the weather is warmer.

We stayed 4 nights here and but actually stayed in 3 different sites. When we first arrived, we looked at the campsite we had booked (#112, electric only for $22 per night) and noticed it was extremely un-level. We went to the office and were able to switch to #107. That site was much more level and we liked it, but we had some neighbors that we weren't crazy about. We checked the campground's availability and saw that, if we were willing to move, we could get a full hook up site. So, the second and third nights, we stayed in FHU site #136. This site backed up right to the lake and was really beautiful and spacious. However, it was very unlevel. We had to use every one of our leveling jacks to get level. The last night, we moved to space FHU Site #133. This was even MORE un-level. We tried everything we could and were still seriously sloped.
The sites themselves are really nice and have a decent amount of separation and privacy. The lake is beautiful, the hiking trails in the park are well marked, the roads are great, the rangers were friendly and helpful. I just wish they would level all of the sites. It's probably not a big deal for a smaller rig, but for big motorhomes, it can be a real issue.
