“Free, great location, lakes and a toilet”

We stayed here 2 nights in mid July with one tent and one small trailer. Most of the camping is on the east side of the lake; a few sites in the evergreens, I saw a tent right on the lake shore, or in the open meadows east of the lake for tent camping. Nearby is Lizard Head Pass, Hope Lake trail, Trout Lake and more. Two old cabins to visit onsite. One older gentleman told me he used to camp in one of them as a kid in the 50s and the called it "the lodge." Accessible right from camp to the north are the Telluride Nordic Priest Lake trails, easy enough to do with kids. You can walk all the way to Matterhorn Campground in a couple miles. Easy drive to Telluride as well if you want to go to dinner. Campground was pretty full over the weekend (everyone was very quiet and polite), but cleared out come Sunday night. I would stay here again. For tent campers, lots of free pullouts on Hope Lake road (not super trailer friendly). County Road 626 on the other side of Trout Lake had several free pull out as well which pops out at Lizard Head Pass. One of our phones had 4G only if placed in one very particular spot.

“Great free location with one toilet. No showers. ”

I stayed here last summer. It offers beautiful views, deer, a lake view, and good access. It's great for tents to small RV's.
