A large portion of reservoir was dried up. There were still lots of birds especially cranes. If you are looking for a place with water recreation, it works. F
We stopped once. We will not stop again. Instead we will go 20 minutes down the road and pay 25 dollars for electricity and water. It was too much of a hassle to get to.

Stayed in mid March and it was cold! Car camped though and it was actually really nice. Pelicans and other birds all over the area. I called Colorado DNR and you do need a permit to be there. I think it was 10 dollars. Would totally stay again.

This was a fun stop and a great spot to camp in. Relatively flat and very hot, but our dog enjoyed cooling herself off in the lake.
This spot also had good signal to work off of so that was great, but the place had so many bugs. Bugs everywhere.

Very quiet, though it is March and 3 degrees last night. A couple of locals drove in to use the public area of the park. Lovely sunrise over the frozen lake, and a large flock of ducks circling. Easy access and nice sites among the trees. US cellular 3 bars.

As others have said, nice for an overnight. It was 9° when I got here late at night. Woke up to a muted sunrise above the lake. Very quiet.

Free, easy access for all vehicles. Numerous spots. Stayed here in Late November, and we had the place to ourselves. Great cell service, and sunsets! Lots of cow poo :) Minimal highway noise.

It’s a quick drive from the highway to the trail head; but I did some winding around to find a good spot away from the few people I saw here. I feel safe enough to recommend it for those traveling through, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a final destination trip haha

Stayed here in March. Signs listed for US fish and wildlife pass but was so early in year there was nobody there, no passes to obtain and I parked, slept in car and left early next day.
Close to freeway so road noise but when looking for a quick spot off the highway what can you expect?!
