Overview of Poverty Gulch Designated Dispersed Campsite #1
It is recommend that all vehicles greater than 35-40 ft. do not attempt to drive beyond Musician's Camp (approx 6 miles from Gothic Road) due to lack of turn around space, rough roads, and/or lack of sites with adequate parking for large vehicles.
To reach these sites one must cross a large river area. This will be dependent on the current condition of the river. 4x4 vehicle required to access the Poverty Gulch Designated Campsites. Camping is first-come, first-served with a 14-day maximum stay and two-vehicle limit per campsite. Camp only in sites that have a post with a campsite number, metal fire ring, and parking spot.
Accessibility is not guaranteed, always scout ahead before driving down dirt roads. Learn more: Boondocking101

The Slate River Valley offers breathtaking mountain and river views along with many different recreation options along its length. It is frequented in the summer by anglers, mountain bikers, hikers and nature lovers.
Slate Creek dispersed sites are accessed via a narrow gravel road past the O Be Joyful Campground. This road is a single lane at times with limited turn off, against a drop-off. There are on guardrails on this road. Please use caution when driving, especially during peak times.
It is recommend that all vehicles greater than 35-40 ft. do not attempt to drive beyond Musician's Camp (approx 6 miles from Gothic Road) due to lack of turn around space, rough roads, and/or lack of sites with adequate parking for large vehicles.
To reach the Poverty Gulch sites one must cross the Slate River. This crossing will be dependent on the river level, impassible during early snow melt. The approach to the river crossing has a tight turn, that will not allow larger rigs to pass, the the far shore is very rutted requiring 4X4 and high clearance to exit the river.
The site itself is located up a rutted road and is in full sun. It is in an open portion of the mountainside, allowing for some views of the valley. The site itself would fit a small rig.
There is no cellular connection in the Slate River Valley
