With a warm up in the forecast, on a whim we felt like camping and Potato Creek was the closest spot (about an hour away). We'd been to the day park before but never camped here. What a great state park! Big, grassy, level sites in the circle area we used. We found anything in the circle that included our Site 92 was good pick. Each site had a wooded back to it for increased privacy. On a hike we noticed that the campsites in the mid 200s were also ideal. Not that the other camp areas aren't good but these are what we saw. I was so impressed with the dump station - the best I've ever experienced. I wish every state park could utilize this design. This park is huge and there are bike trails, hiking trails and even horse trails and a horseman camp plus cabins. We're going to make a bee line back to Potato Creek about 12 miles south of South Bend. With the wind down in the camping season, it was a quiet Friday night stay. I would imagine midweek would be quieter during the regular season. The campground is open year round and they reserve at least 11 sites in the snowier times to be plowed on a regular basis. Potato Creek is a gem in the Indiana State Park system.

What an amazing Indiana State Park. We arrived on Thursday evening and we’re informed that the dump stations at the family campground were closed for renovations. However the dump stations at the horseman’s camp were open. We drove there to dump and found newly renovated dump stations that were clean, easy to get to and completely updated. After dumping we drove across the street to the newly updated fresh water filling stations, again nicely renovated and super clean!
The renovations on the dump stations at the family campground are complete and they will reopen on 8/7/23. Every @INDNR property should duplicate what they are doing! 4 water stations at one time and there will be 5 dump stations.
The camp grounds were separated into about 5-6 different sections. With a bathhouse in the middle of each section which were clean and air conditioned. Overall around 250-300 campsites. The sites were all level and large. A fire pit and picnic table at each site.
The park itself was amazing! Big lake with a beach for swimming and a place to rent boats. There are paved bicycle paths. You can rent bikes at the camp store. There are plenty of nature programs to attend geared towards children and adults alike. We volunteered to walk the resident Eastern Box Turtle, Lilly, as part of the Explore Program, we also went to the Potter Cemetery to view some of the oldest gravesites. Totally fascinating.
This is a beautiful property and one that we intend on visiting again.

We stayed 2 nights in site 70 while visiting family. The site was close to level with a gravel parking area and a large maple tree in the back corner. Forest behind the site, so rather pleasant. Generally, this campground is wide open with scattered trees. Bathrooms were all functioning. Lot's of families rolled in Friday night, so it seems to be a big weekend destination for local folks.
We didn't really experience the park, but it contains a wide variety of landscapes with the lake, wetlands, and forest. Lots of fishing and kayaking going on. We were told the hiking is good as well, particularly since it's in Indiana farm country.
Easy access and equidistant from the bypass around South Bend/Mishawaka and US30 in Plymouth.

What a nice campground! We hiked, biked and kayaked. The hiking trails were very well maintained. A paved bike path was also nice. There is also a good sized beach for warmer weather days. It opens Memorial weekend and closes Labor Day.
Our campsite was very large and also well maintained. Most of the sites are quite open to daytime sun, so we used our awning a fair amount. The gravel pad was long and level. The electric post was about 45 feet away, so we used our extension. We knew that coming in as it is well communicated in the reservation site description.
Our Verizon cell reception only worked in the morning although there was Wi-Fi at the camp store and the nature center.
All in all it is a great place to camp.

This is a very nice State Campground with nice spacing, paved roads and gravel pads. Most all sites are back in w/ just a couple of pull thrus. Weekends are packed and busy with weekdays very quite.
Just some notes on some things I’d change. More water filling and dumping stations. AND . . . Get rid of the site post markers. Makes for more jockeying back and forth to line up to back in for us longer rigs. Understand it may help to keep from tire groves in the grass at the curb but maybe something that isn’t quite so high ? (Boulders) These are at least 3 ft high. I’ve seen other parks that paint the site number on the curb side of the road. Less of a hazard. Also, because of those posts, longer rigs (30ft & longer) would be best served using the outer perimeter sites. (Still some post challenges but fewer) And, I did get into the grassy area deeper into the site because of not being able to line up my rig better at the curb.
But these things would in no way keep me from returning. This is a very nice, very well maintained State Park Campground.

We stay here about 5 times a year as they are an hours drive from us. Spacious spots with lots of room. Large lake where it's trolling motors only and great to see no vacation homes surrounding the lake. Bike friendly and they have miles of paved trails and then some for dirt trails. Sites are electric only, so there is a line to fill up on Friday nights and the line is longer on Sunday when it's time to dump. We use a portable dump tank and fill up using jugs and a 12 volt transfer pump. Place gets filled up on the weekends so make sure you reserve on line 6 months out.

As was said earlier, these are nice electric spots with plenty of room between neighbors. Water is available near the entrance and bath house/ restroom are above average with some mold on the shower walls. #19 is a shaded spot.
The park is full of ponds and lakes that have green algae considered moderate at this time.

We didn’t know if we would be able to get a spot while driving through Indiana during the week, and were unable to make a reservation because ReserveAmerica won’t allow a same-day reservation and we were unsure of the exact day we would arrive. Thankfully we called ahead when we were about 2 hrs away and the ranger told us that had plenty of sites available. This campground is pretty huge, so we were happy to have a place for the night with free showers and trails to walk our dogs. Everyone says the weekends are booked out weeks (even months) in advance but weekdays seem to be less crazy.
It was a good place for us to stop on our cross county move (even during the COVID-19 pandemic).
It was a green oasis is this small town in rural Indiana. We were very surprised to be honest. Didn’t expect much when we were driving into town, but the sites and facilities were great!
