“Creekside camping and waterfalls”

Reviewed Jul 30, 2016

Overall Rating

This creek side campground is a easy drive from Hwy12 with less than a mile of gravel road with few potholes.

Most sites are along the creek have partial sun and a couple fully shaded near the pit toilets.

Warm days and cool nights during my stay. Most sites would accommodate my 30 ft motor home.

It seems quite a few of the sites are permanently occupied by locals who use this as their private resort. They stay some nights, leave some days, have others join them at random, and they never vacate their tents from the sites.

Sometimes there is loud music. Sometimes talking until dawn. Sometimes barking dogs. Sometimes yelling and hollering.
There is a unmarked trail head across the road behind the old well pump that will take you through the forest to a series of waterfalls. There is toilet paper waste along the first part of the trail. Porter Falls is at the end of the trail and is probably spectacular when there is a lot of runoff. The trail is steep in places but an easy hike about a mile long.

There is a ORV (off-road-vehicle) multipurpose trail head further down the road which connects to all other trails.

My site had a major fire recently and the ground was scorched and the shade tree half burned all the way to the top. Burned leaves were falling constantly.

The pit toilets were recently pumped out but it didn't help the smell. The walls were covered with mildew and floors with urine. Clearly no regular maintenance done here.

Verizon 4GLTE 2 bars boosted is not really usable. Sometimes in the morning if it's cloudy.
