Port Aransas Permit Beach Camping

We arrived in Port Aransas via route through Corpus Christi with our 35' 5er & F350 dually. We didn't try the ferry bc max height is 13'6" & thats our 5er height with front AC unit.
The tide was unusually high, all the way up to the dunes so we stayed at IB Magee campground for a couple days until the tide receded. We entered the beach on E Avenue G & parked near beach marker 1. We enjoyed 4 days of beach camping. Port Aransas has many restaurants, bars & shops. We filled fresh water & dumped at IB Magee for $10.
We plan to come back after the new year.

Love it. Everything about it is awesome. Stopped for fuel on our way to the beach, picked up the annual pass ($12) at the same spot, and found a spot to park. Nice and quiet at night, some daytime beach goers, but we were mostly out and about on our bikes anyway! The view and the sound of the waves are amazing. Sand is well packed so no concern about getting stuck. Tide is far enough away to not be a problem but close enough to enjoy it. Porta potties and dumpsters are close by. We rode into town on the bikes if we needed water, food, or supplies. Sunrise is worth waking up for!

Very long beach, you can stay up to the 3 nights but first you need to buy a permit, we got ours at IGA groceries store, it's 12$/year
At beach you have to park behind the wooden posts and perpendicularly to the beach.
There are toilets and trash containers everywhere; some beach showers are available at the main entry on E Avenue G.
After 2 nights we had sand everywhere in the trailer, it was about 76 to 80°F but very muggy.

Hard packed sand so no concern about getting stuck. And, the tide never got even close to wooden posts. Very busy during the day, but cleared out at night. The big negative is that they don't allow parking parallel to the ocean. I got away with it the first night, but the police came by in the morning and told me to park perpendicular. I tried relocating to the beach right outside the national park, about 30 mins south. I stayed there for a couple nights a year ago and it was really nice. This time the tide was so high there was barely enough room to turn around, so I came back to Port Aransas.

A great beach camping spot in Port Aransas, Texas. Cost is $12 for an annual pass if you buy it at the Chamber of Commerce. The sand is packed down so it safe for even the biggest class A. There’s no worries about the tide as long as it’s below 2’ high tide. Close to town seems to have more bigger rigs. Smaller rigs are camping around marker 20-30. The sand gets more loose (no problems with 2wd truck and trailer) aft tee marker 30. Around marker 40, 4wd is recommended and the people are few and far between.
We planned to stay for three nights, now we’re staying for a week! Peak season stays are limited

Drive on beach was easy with very packed sand. Get your $12 annual permit from Stripes gas station in Port A before coming to beach. Definitely worth spending a couple days right on beach. Beach was a little dirty as we arrived day after Memorial Day and looks like heavy weekend usage. People driving motorized golf carts around on beach up until 10:00 was a little annoying but we suspect they’re college partyers here for holiday week.
