Overview of Poplar Run Designated Dispersed Campsite 2

Camping is only allowed at designated campsites in Delaware State Forest. Reservations and permits are required and can be made online or over the phone. Campfires are prohibited from March 1 - May 25 without authorization from the state forest.

Black bears frequent the area. When not in immediate use, all food, beverages, coolers, cooking utensils, pet food, or other attractants must be kept in a closed, hard-sided vehicle or secured in a bear-proof storage container.

Overall Rating

This place was great for our dogs to have some off-leash time without any worries! A 5 minute phone call and we had a permit instantly, and we even called on the day of arrival. Big campsite with picnic table and fire ring. Sad to see lots of garbage left behind from other campers. Lots of hiking trails around, but need to drive to them.

Overall Rating

When I called to register, the telephone prompts directed me to a wrong number. The operator was able to help me without a problem tho. Registration is easy and almost immediate. The staff does a great job to ensure that campers aren't cramped. My camping site was switched at the last minute for this reason. They sent an email and called to confirm I received the new information. It was easy to find the site and the main road in was fine for my van.

Look up! The trees really blow with the wind and there are broken branches everywhere.

The terrain was really rocky and solid. I had difficulty staking my tent. I should have tied off to trees for extra support but I didn't. That was a huge mistake as the wind came thru and blew my house down! (It was a good "first time" story)

I'd be interested in coming here a little later in the season although I anticipate that it will be a very popular site.
