I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in sites C39 and C23, E/W*, BI sites for $27/night with a senior discount. The water connection is astricked because it was turned off due to anticipated cold weather. The dump station only had one spigot and there was a line for that. I was able to fill my tank at the bathhouse on C Loop since I had a long hose. It was easy to back into C39. It has a shared entry area but it was never a problem. I needed 2 boards to get level. The site has some open sky and nice views of the lake. The only concern is that the boat ramp is right across the inlet which would most likely be very noisy during the peak summer months. Most sites were very roomy, but the area around C39 was a bit crowded due to the layout and shared entries. It was also pretty far uphill to walk to the bathhouse which was clean and nice. I had 2 bars LTE to 1 bar 5G with Verizon, 24.1 mbps download speed, lots of OTA channels, no wifi. I added a couple extra days on to my stay but had to move to site C23. It was a little harder to back into given the angle off the road, placement of the power pole and a fence/stairs up to the picnic table area. Had to position the rig very carefully to be able to open slides on both sides. I used 1 board to level. This site was very shaded and was close to the bathhouse. The dump station had 4 spots and you could enter it either way. It is a nice campground and I would stay here again.

We camped here for two nights in mid-November, 2022. I had reserved online, so the nightly rate is averaged with any reservation fee and / or senior discount. Luckily I had looked at their website the day we were arriving, as they turn off the water to the individual sites for the winter and had just done so the day before. A couple of the nearby campers weren't aware of that and were jerry jugging their water. We filled up at the dump station on the way in. Check in time is 4 pm - we were early, but they did let us check in at 3 (we went to dump station to fill water and wasted about 15 minutes there).
Our site was nice - long enough so we didn't have to disconnect and with a view of the forest behind. There are several water-front sites that were super nice, but yes, some do share entrances and overlap a bit.
Lots of trashcans around (nice to not have to walk a mile to the entrance) and a fun little trail. Someone posted some pics on instagram of bald eagles on the beach just a few days before we got there - we didn't see any eagles, but did see their footprints!
No dogs on the beach & no alcohol in the park.

Jordan Lake State Recreation Area has several campgrounds with plenty of lakeside sites, if you make your reservation early. We happened to camp in Poplar Point during the busiest time Labor Day weekend. Even then it was surprisingly quiet, because campsites are generously separated among the pine forest. And after the weekend we were practically alone. So, If you love to be alone in nature, this is a great place for that experience. We have a video about this campground on our YouTube Summertime RV Rovers channel - 4 Great Campgrounds in North Carolina. We stayed there in our Super C Dynamax DX3. We camped at Poplar Point Campground - Jordan Lake SRA in a Motorhome.

I stayed 3 mid-week nights in the F loop towards the end of October 2022. I found nothing to not like during my stay. Well, there was one thing: I went off for the day and came back to find someone had helped themselves to the bundle of wood I hadn't yet burned. Luckily, with the help of the host (super terrific) and my camp site neighbor I was able to track it down and get it back. The bathroom was always clean. The shower was good except it uses a motion sensor which meant it sometimes shut off when it mistakenly sensed I was gone. There are plenty of sites to be had, some are right on the lake with really nice views. My site needed a little leveling. The noise level was excellent. Easy to get to, cell signal was good, nice trail that runs the length of the entire campground plus lots to do nearby.

We had F34 in loop F. Right on the lake. Unbelievable sunsets. Nice gravel area at each site. Water and power at the site. Dump station just down the road. My wife is the bath house rater and she gave it a 7 out of 10. Absolutely would stay here again. Good cell reception. Took an hour zoom call.

The bad: the spots. Many spots with V or Y shaped pads that shares a lot of parking space with strangers. They have a lot of space for fires, tents beside the parking pad. Unfortunately we are currently blocked in by another camper who is sharing the next spot over. We're hoping these people leave before us because otherwise we are stuck. Many of these spots are like this. It's not clear on the website which are 'shared driveways' and which spots are dedicated to one spot.

This was our first time camping at Jordan Lake and Poplar Point campground. I wish I could give this campground higher marks, but unfortunately, I can’t. Poplar Point is in an excellent location, Jordan Lake is beautiful, it has good cell coverage and it’s close to several small towns. We visited near-by Pittsboro, NC a couple of times...and enjoyed the small-town atmosphere and all the people we met. If you visit Pittsboro, I recommend you stop by the Chatham Beverage District...lots of fun. My disappointment with the Poplar Point campground mostly had to do with the lack of cleanliness/maintenance of the campground's bathroom facilities. Our visit was Sun - Thurs and the campground was less than half full. As campground facilities go, and without going into detail, these facilities were about as bad as we had ever experienced in terms of cleanliness. Very disappointing! While in the area, we drove through several other state campgrounds that were near-by. Next time, we will probably try one of the other campgrounds instead.

Our site was good, but there were several in the F loop that shared a driveway with other sites, which I would've been unhappy with. They were literally on top of each other, so just be mindful of that when booking your site. The waterside sites are really nice!
My husband was fine with the bathhouse but I was a little grossed out by all the millipedes in the shower and there is no ventilation in the building which doesn't make for a great shower experience in hot, humid August. There was a cut through trail to get to the bath house on one side of the loop, but not on our side. It was a little bit of a longer walk, so it would've been nice to have a cut through path for easier access.
Good connectivity - we worked all week using AT&T with no issues.
The park is dead on the weekdays and definitely picks up on the weekends, but there is plenty of space between most of the sites so we didn't have any issues with noise.
I didn't get the impression that they clean up much between visitors. There was trash that remained along the side of the road and at the beach through our entire visit. Just a little disappointing but not a dealbreaker.
I wish there were more hiking trails - there is only one. All in all we would definitely stay here again!

I was torn between 4 and 5 stars here. It would have been 5 if we didn't have to search for a new site after finding ours wasn't usable. We had reserved ahead of time a 98ft long pull through site on the B Loop. We get to the site and its going up a hill. So you would pull in going uphill, it levels out for about 20ft then continues up the hill to where you pull back out. We're 40ft and towing so it was impossible for us to use. Luckily we were able to head over to E loop which is a no reservation loop and found a great big level site. We ended up extending our stay due to the gas shortage that hit the area right when we were supposed to leave. Overall it was a peaceful, nice campground and we'd absolutely stay here again.
FYI- there is water and electric hookups but no sewer. There is a somewhat centrally located sewer dump though.
