A good place to stay overnight or a few days if you have business or family in Salem
No frills. Nice park aside of it to walk or take a dip in the stream.
Dog park near Salem was awesome.
Came a day earlier than planned but no issue with the caretaker.
Large area for children with swings and playground

We came after hours and there is a caretaker available who will unlock your power after you fill out a form. You can pay him with cash or check. Great park aside of it you can walk to with lots of shade and access to a running stream. Our puppies loves it.
Museum on the grounds and different events on weekends so make sure you call for reservations.
Playground in the grounds.

Polk County museum is in the SW corner of the fairgrounds. Some weekends have a flea market at the main exhibition hall. There is a playground on the north side of the main exhibition hall. Restaurant around the corner from the museum. Fairgrounds shares an entrance with a local park that has trails and picnic spots near the river.

Quiet, no frills, and level. Water and 50 amp electric. There is some highway noise but we parked at the far end from the road and it wasn’t bad. No shade or picnic tables. Pretty views of farm fields and a nearby park for walking, swimming or fishing, on Rickreall Creek. Good for any size rig. There are bathrooms and showers but we didn’t try them. In the beautiful Willamette valley where there are over 700 wineries. Just a few miles from the cute town of Independence.

“Can't sleep in car so we didn't stay”

We drove here from some wine tasting spots and the attendant told us we couldn't pay for a spot to stay. They don't let people sleep in cars. We have a converted SUV with a bed in the back and I asked what the difference was between that and an RV. He said, "that is just our policy" and could give no explanation.
