This is a very large park with almost 540 campsites. The downside is there are only 2 dump stations. One in the 300 loop and the other in the 400 loop. We were in campsite 103 and the site was large and very level. There was a lead in to trail 2 in our campsite but due to the size we really didn’t notice when people came through.
We enjoyed the trails and completed the Hell’s Point Challenge. This is an “8” mile hike to the highest point in the park. You have to climbed 84 steps to the top, but worth it!
There is a wonderful paved bicycle trail through the park that leads to the Angola, Indiana multi-use trail. This trail is 7 miles into Angola. We enjoyed the ride!
I will have to say, if you can bring your own water, do it. The water is very cloudy and has a funny color to it. The bath house in our campground was clean but due to the water the toilets and showers had a rusty stain around them. There is a water treatment plant behind loop 1 that had a humming noise that might bother some
We brought our kayaks and found that there are no boat launches in the park. We had to drive to a IN DNR boat launch about 8 miles away on another lake to kayak. All of the lakes are interconnected, and there are a couple of docks at the park that are first come, first serve for people who have reservations at the campground.
Overall a great park and one that we will return to.

Muddy, uneven, way too close sites. Little to no maintenance. And maybe the worst people in terms of noise, unfriendliness, hostility, and all of their belongings exploded out onto their sites. Dogs running loose, clouds of marijuana smoke, and way, way, way too much lighter fluid. Just don't.

The staff were very kind and pleasant, both at the entrance to the park as well as the entrance to the campground. Such a beautiful place with pretty views. Our campsite was not level but spacious.

I’ve stayed here many times, usually once or twice per year. They have great hiking trails as well as a long bike path. The lake is nearby in the property offering kayaking, boating and swimming. In the winter they have a toboggan run which is a lot of fun.

Once we arrived to our site it is extremely uneven and the sites are not huge or at least the ones we saw. It felt like being in a sardine can. Would not recommend.

We actually drove put tow vehicle around to find best spot. Ended up in a 30 amp site but a nice spot. If you are a big rig, note the roads are windy and not always cleared quite high enough for a 12’6” rig. The pull through sites in the 300 area are good and the accessible sites work well.
The park was great. Enjoyed beach, trail riding and bike paths.

Only had electric, bit has a fresh water fill station and dump stations in each campground area. Tucked in the woods so really gets the camping experience. Would stay here again!

This park is within 2 hours of our home in Michigan and we thought we would venture south rather than north for once. The entrance of the park was gorgeous - lined with blooming spring trees. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly. It seems there would be many activities offered here in the summer. We saw the Inn/restaurant, beach, toboggan run, boat rentals. I'm sure this is a busy place in the summer. There was a horse barn with trail rides offered which looked fun too.
We stayed in one of the smaller loops (sites numbered 500+). There was a bathhouse with showers and some older outhouse style bathrooms too. The main bathhouse could use some updating, but it wasn't horrible. Our spot (513) was slightly sloped but we didn't have a problem leveling. The site was large with a fire ring and a newer picnic table. The only issue we had all weekend was our camping neighbors. There was a large group across from us that was excessively loud both nights we were there. We certainly don't mind people enjoying themselves and having a good time, but when yelling/screaming is going on at 3a.m., ugh. I never saw a ranger/park employee drive through. Quiet time reminders would have been appreciated. We would definitely return here again. The trails varied in difficulty and we had a great weekend trip.

We stayed at Pokagon State Park from 03/06/20-03/08/20. This park near Angola in NE corner of Indiana was worth the trip. We paid a winter rate of $23/night and used our annual Indiana park pass for entry (normally $7 per vehicle). There was a gate attendant Friday night at 7pm during our arrival which was a welcome change from other winter camping we have done. This was our first trip to this park. Our site (#339) was a gravel pull-through, and within easy access to the heated, clean restroom located between sites 361 and 340 that stays open during winter. This site required no sideways leveling but did have one tree that influenced where we wanted our door. Water was available at site 388 during the winter. Our site had 20/30/50 amp service, included the standard fire pit and picnic table, and was easy to access when pulling in during the dark. Road to campground 3 was a bit narrow but we never had oncoming traffic (your mileage may vary during busy weekends). Trash and dump station looked clean and tidy. We just missed the famous Toboggan run which is open Dec-Feb. We took advantage of the extensive trail system, there was a variety of sights to see, and the dogs enjoyed the very long walks. Shower had good pressure and the water was hot. Heard a rumor from a fellow camper that the loop that includes sites 364-376 tends to be a party spot during busy weekends, but that's just hearsay. Only 6 total campsites occupied first weekend of March, 2020. Campground was very quiet and peaceful. Campground 3 is the only available campsite during winter season. Never visited nature center, park office, or the restaurant at the inn. We want to come back and experience more, we enjoyed the trails so much this trip that we never saw much else.
