The price above is for an electric/water site and includes applicable taxes. In addition, there is a park admission fee of $8.90/day/person which includes tax. The “parc national” is a bit misleading as it is not a Canadian National Park but the Quebec equivalent of a provincial park - so the National Park Pass does not work here.
The park consists of 3 sections with the southernmost area Pointe Opemican having the campground. Between our limited French and lack of information on the signage, we found it confusing as to where the campground actually was. Signage in the campground itself was good. Although the ranger spoke English, check in was a bit confusing as well, I am not actually sure if it was necessary to do so. Since I had a reservation, she said I could just go to my site and she didn’t take any information - just pointed me in the direction of the maps. However, another group who also had a reservation, had to check in and they were given a tag to put on their dash.
The campground is gorgeous, lots of space between sites and very easy to manoeuvre through. Sites are level and services are modern and clean (the campground is only a couple of years old). There is recycling but no laundry facilities.
The campground is on the site of an old logging mill and they are in the process of restoring some of the buildings. The blacksmith shop was pretty interesting with a bit of a light show. The main beach is being cleaned up at the moment as there is some contamination from the logging. You can however swim at the boat launch area. There are both hiking and biking trails which are scenic but not extensive. The main attraction for the park is the canoeing/kayaking.
There is sporadic cell service and wifi is available at the visitor center.
Kandt would stay here again
