Pulled in to finally find the potable water spigot on the Airport Road frontage of the parking lot and it had a closed due to construction sign on it. Didn't see any construction though. We went down the road to the Chena Site.

this is essentially a parking lot with an area set aside for RVs, but there is a water spigot to use when its turned on. I believe its about Memorial Day that you start to pay $12, i was told if the water is not on its free. When you need to pay, there is a box set up with envelopes and a place to put your payment. The road noise is a problem at times as it seems there are people racing their engines on the surrounding streets at all hours.
Its next to the Alaska Salmon bake at Pioneer park which had a special preseason bake starting Mothers Day for that whole week. For $17.99 you got a choice of main meal, soft drinks, salad, coffee and dessert. Easy access off the main road, was easy to find, and had great ATT reception. Pioneer park was not officially open, but it was accessible for walking and there were a lot of families picnicing on a Sunday in the nice weather. The museum was open as well, I think aircraft.

There is designated pull-through RV parking in the parking lot of Pioneer Park, a city park in Fairbanks filled with historic buildings and attractions. The sites are side by side but big enough for slides to come out, and long enough for towing vehicles/toads. There are tall trees just west of the RV parking area, meaning there is afternoon shade.
While there are no hookups at this $12/night park (stay limit of 5 days), there is potable water on site, and we headed down the road to the dump station at the Sourdough gas station.
It can be a little tricky to get into the parking lot, but even we made the turn with a 36' 5th wheel towed by a long-bed, crew-cab pickup. The address is on Airport Way, but you have to actually enter the parking lot from Bartlett Avenue from the east. My advice is to check it out on satellite view first.
Pioneer Park itself is very cute with historic buildings that house shops, restaurants and museums. There's mini golf and access to the Chena River, too. It's free to access the park, which is more of a historic city park than a theme park, so it makes a great place to take a walk, people watch and see the sights.

This is an adorable 40-acre park in the middle of Fairbanks with lots to do for families with kids or pets, and especially if you have small watercraft and want to float the river in the park, walk/bike the trails, or just relax with a picnic lunch and learn about Alaska's history through the reproduction mining town, restored riverboat, history exhibits, and Native American art. There's also a playground, carousel, train ride, and lots of outdoor picnic pavilions.
Pioneer Park welcomes RVs to stay in their parking lot for $12 a night for a maximum of 5 consecutive nights. No reservations are required; register at the fee collection post near the park entrance upon arrival. They take cash or in-state checks only.
There were camp hosts on-site during our visit. There are no hook-ups available, but potable water is available on-site and there's a free dump station at the nearby Sourdough Fuel on Wembley or Van Horn Road.
Not much shade anywhere so solar was easy, and we didn't see anything about generator hours, but since it's a public park I'd be wary of running one too much out of courtesy to others.
We were able to pick up the Pioneer Park wi-fi from the parking lot but had a very weak signal. It might be usable if you had a wi-fi boosting antenna. Verizon and AT&T signal was great.
A little noisy from the nearby road, plus the traffic in the parking lot and the train that runs through the park during daytime hours and blows its horn. It was cute more than annoying, we found, but it might bother some people.
The park is walking distance to the Alaskan Gold Panners baseball field, where they play the midnight baseball game on the solstice in June every year, but games go on regularly throughout the summer too. The Alaska Salmon Bake restaurant was also in the park too but we didn't try it.
Overall, a convenient and affordable place to hang out for a few days to explore Fairbanks and soak up some Alaskan history in a lovely park setting.
