Wanted to get some early season camping in. Drove up around 3pm first weekend in May. Plenty of spaces to choose from. Some would be tough for larger trailers. We found a good handful for our 22 ft pull behind. There are more but it would take some fancy work to level. Sat around 7k feet elevation so nights still got cold. Ticks were VERY bad! Had to check everytime we went inside. In a weekend, we likely pulled 20 ticks off of us and the dog. Besides that, great time was had by all!

Stayed here in early October after all campgrounds on Colorado route 14 outside Ft Collins were closed or full. These campgrounds showed open on recreation.gov- frustrating! Drove up to Pingree and scored a great site with views. Some noisy campers were there but they thankfully left after one night. There were at most 4 camps where we were, well spaced apart. It was extremely dry, but we had good views. There are lots of turnoffs with sites, but I imagine it’s busy in the summer.

This is an easy area to get to and the view is beautiful. There is a lot of traffic going by but the dust doesn't travel up to the sites. There is no cell service even though the campendium overlay says there is.

There are three large camping areas available prior to the no camping area in the burn scar. All three can fit multiple rigs and have a mixture of trees and sun. We chose the second area which was more open for our solar and Starlink. It could easily fit a rig much larger than our 33ft 5th wheel.
The main road is very well maintained, but high traffic. It is steep and winding so using your engine to break on the way done is a must. The roads to the sites are in fairly good repair, just some rutting that most can handle.
The night sky here is amazing and in the evening it is silent.
The area with the burn is clearly signed as no camping for the hazards.
There is no cellular connection in the area.
