Very basic campground but absolutely fabulous location in the national park. It's a parking lot with several spaces for RVs. Problem is that it's generator city for a few hours every day and it's noisy as a result. I wish they'd limit the rig sizes and maybe just set it up as a no-generator zone.

Yes, it’s a parking lot with no amenities. RVs must come prepared. We stayed two nights in site 33. We were there to hike and the proximity to the trailhead made this “campground” worth it. The sites are unconventional for a campground but the views and trails were the highlights. The rangers in the visitors center were helpful with hiking tips. The sites are next to the regular trailhead parking so there was traffic throughout the day and night. We were never bothered by anyone coming or going. If you want easy access to Guadalupe Peak Trail or the other hikes, it’s worth it. If you have a taller vehicle, just know there are trees along the outside of the lot that hang over the sites. There was a tree on site 33 that would rub our camper roof in the wind.

This is kind of a weird campground for a national park. But the views are great and there aren't a lot of options in this area, so it is still worthwhile. If you are tent camping, it is a set of walk-to sites that are perfect.
If you are camping in a vehicle, including RV, van, 3rd wheel, etc. you are just in an open parking lot right next to another vehicle. I often camp in my Prius so there is less privacy than at a typical campground...if you're in an RV you probably don't mind. And being on pavement it gets hot. This campground-parking-lot is shared with the trailhead so there is a lot of early morning traffic for people summiting Guadalupe Peak. I do however appreciate that they kept this "campground" simple and didn't bulldoze a bunch of desert habitat to make more room for RVs!
Location is great, views are great, nice basic facilities.
Overall, if you know what to expect, it's excellent. If you're looking for a "typical" national park campground, you may be disappointed.

That being said, there are clean spacious bathrooms, a dishwashing station, and drinking water fill. Some of the sites have a picnic tables (around the edges and the one on the far side of the parking lot in the center). The spot was spacious enough for our 28 ft. RV and tow car (honda CRV) to fit. There was plenty of room for our slides, though we opted to keep them in due to EXTREMELY high winds while we were there. We had space to put out our chairs and relax though.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here, did a couple of amazing hikes (Devils Hall was super fun) and spent a day at Carlsbad Caverns.
Star gazing at night would have been fantastic other than the bright bathhouse lights and another camper that felt the need to light up the parking lot. :/

When I visited the winds were exceptionally high. One day gusts got to near 75mph. Winds were coming out of NW and that is the direction the rv spots faced. I did bring my slide in for peace of mind. Be sure to look at wind forecast before you travel.

We stayed 4 nights at the Pine Springs Campground. Our site was very level and asphalt, so nothing else needed. Of course, it was dry camping, but LOTS of great sunlight for those solar panels. We were able to charge our trailer battery each day using just our 200W solar suitcase. It was very cold at night, and we had to run the furnace, so that ate up some propane, but a quick trip to Whites City gave us a fillup of that tank. We had a battery issue, so we had to go to Carlsbad to buy a new one, but it is a good place to stock up on supplies needed. There are lots of hikes within the park and a trailhead leaves right from the campground area. Very nice dark skies too.

Service was pretty limited (Verizon got ~1 bar in the parking lot if we were lucky). We hiked Devils Hall which was a good end-of-day hike.
