Pine Ridge Campground

Arrived on Monday (6/21/21) with the intention of staying a day or so. One person was left when I came in and he said everyone took off, the place is yours. The loop to the left as you come to the fork have electric sites for same price as non-electric. I believe their are 13 electric. Many more non-electric sites to the right of thee fork. The sites are plenty big and should accommodate any size rig. Plenty of space between them and trees/bushes providing privacy decent enough outhouse. Water to fill jugs up when you first come in. Tables and fire pits at each site. Dumpster to toss your garbage. Pounds Hollow rec area 5 minutes away for swimming with a beach. Garden of the Gods about a 10 minute drive. Nearby Walmart 30 minute drive in Harrisburg. I paid $5/night with senior pass. Did not get any (AT&T) cell service at my site. Had to walk up to the entrance to get 1 bar which was only good for texting. I ended staying for a week, and will go back.

Access was on a good paved road. When we arrived in mid Oct several of the loops were closed. The loops we explored were almost full. The sites were small but many had some forest between them so there was a degree of privacy. The usual table, fire rings, and vault toilets. In addition almost every site had two poles appropriate for skylines for tethering horses. They did not seem large enough for a truck and living quarter trailer however. They would accommodate trailers up to 25’ I would guess. Many were not very level.

This is part of the Pound Hollow Recreation Area and has a lake with fishing and boating opportunities as well as numerous trails. Check out the Shawnee National Forest website for more details.

We did not stay because the open sites were too shaded for our solar needs and there was no Verizon signal to speak of: 1bar 1x
