Pickaroon Campground

Stayed here to fish the North Platte. Drove 20' camper van with limited clearance 20 miles in to the site. All good until the last drop to the river valley where steep eroded switchbacks made the going tough. Despite forest service feedback that the road was driveable in a van, I highly recommend need high clearance for the last couple miles. Needed a running start to get back out, and never would have made it in wet conditions. The campsite was closed due to recent wildfires, but nobody seemed to check. Site are overgrown but useable. Nearby vault toilet had toilet paper, but was not regularly stocked. I'd got back if I had high clearance 4 wheel drive-great location for fishing.
