The only things we didn't like about this park were the sandy sites and the showers. It's pretty hilly, and we have a hard time getting our TT parked with on the sand. Maybe it would have been fine if we had 4WD. We had to buy extra blocks for the tongue jack because it was so low compared to the back.
The showers cost a quarter per six minutes, and you can't add quarters while it's going or it will just eat your money. We normally prefer our camper shower, but there wasn't water at our site.
It was a beautiful park! The view was wonderful,& it was pretty quiet. Our site overlooked Independence Lake, which was also warmer for swimming than Superior was. The people were nice in the office, and it was a good price. There is a lot to do outdoors in the area, and a lot to do in Marquette (~35 min away). I think that if we came back to the area, we would stay closer to town, like at Tourist Park, which seemed nice too. We just ended up doing a lot of driving back and forth between town and the park.

Super gorgeous Site looking directly over the lake! Electric only but worth using the tank for the view. Nice sandy swimming beach and playground. It was by far the loudest campground we stayed at but nothing terrible. Did not use bathhouse. Fishing dock and boat ramp. Really nice spot for the price!

Perkins Park Campground is a wooded and hilly campground with a wide variety of sites, many with full hookups, on the shore of Lake Independence about 30 miles north of Marquette. There is a boat launch and public beach here as well. A swimming beach on Lake Superior is about 10 minutes past the campground.
