The staff, rangers, and campground host were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were well-maintained and accessible once on the site. The campsites were average size for a CA state park clean and are nearly all hillside. Most of the ground is covered by tall grasses. If you are traveling with a dog and they are prone to collecting burs and foxtails, this could pose a problem. Our pup couldn't walk on any of the trails due to all of the burs. But the trails are very nice for people who don't have this issue.
This campsite is frequented by boating locals. There will be boating-related noise. Camping on the weekend means you will likely have a rowdy neighbor. Some neighbors did not adhere to quiet hours on one of our nights. But the next night was a weekday; we were with only a handful of campers and had our whole loop entirely to ourselves, consequently very quiet. If you can't avoid a weekend and need a full night's sleep, earplugs or noise-canceling anything is necessary.
Small amounts of lake access exist, but they are not beaches, more like dirt clearings.
Overall we had a nice time at Peninsula Campground. There was running water, quarter-operated showers, cell coverage, clean, and a sweet summer ranger talk for kids on Saturdays. We wouldn't avoid going back, but we would opt for other campgrounds on Folsom Lake with easier access and better beach hangouts.

“Go in the off-season for quiet seclusion”
Reviewed 2/16/2015
Best time to visit is off-season (before Memorial Day, late August/September). Summertime is party time and the boat crowd can be loud and party into the night. Strong ranger presence helps, but does get rowdy in prime season. Roads in can be a challenge for bigger rigs. Most sites have really good privacy and separation via trees/... more

Strong ranger presence helps, but does get rowdy in prime season. Roads in can be a challenge for bigger rigs. Most sites have really good privacy and separation via trees/bush, but can be tight, not level, and have some low-hanging branches. Excellent lake access & trailheads right out of camping loops for easy day hikes. Fantastic place in non-peak.

I drove for a long way to get here on small winding roads just to see that they close on October 1! Please be aware of the dates! Beal Point however is open all year. But it is another 40 minute drive from here along windy small roads!
