DO NOT come in on 83rd Ave SE. Google sent us this way, big mistake, it is 3 miles of terrible wash board gravel road. Use 28th St SE. Sign says to check in at office, but it is closed Sat-Mon, thanks for making me park for nothing. Site 49, a pull through, is horribly un-level. Took all our boards and blocks to get close to level. Campground wifi username and password listed on the office door did not work, thanks again. All the sites are un-level, some are ridiculous (like on a hill). DO NOT get site 54, it is on a steep hill, no way an RV could use this site. Oh, and lots of flies everywhere.
Pros: Quiet because no one was here. Most sites have trees for some shade. 10-15 minutes to food and restaurants in Jamestown.
AT&T cell service is iffy. 2-3 bars of 4G, we did OK streaming with our WeBoost.
So many issues with this campground make it not worth staying at.

The only toilet close by was vault - which was clean. No water available near the sites so bring your own OR you have to go up to where the campers are or back to the restrooms in the main area to be able to find water.
But for $15 it was safe and pretty for the night.

We booked site #53. It was a pull-through. There are other sites that are back-in for a cheaper nightly rate. Site wasn't level but was fixed with leveling blocks. There were vault-type toilets, showers, and a playground for children. Our experience of the toilets were a bit questionable. Great Wi-Fi amenity as it was free and quic... more

There were vault-type toilets, showers, and a playground for children. Our experience of the toilets were a bit questionable. Great Wi-Fi amenity as it was free and quick! We would come back as it's not too far our from Jamestown, less than 20 minutes.

Registration office was closed so we went straight to our reserved spot. #42 was level but getting onto the site was quite steep. Spotty Verizon data.

We stayed a couple nights here mainly because I wanted to see the local historical attractions in Jamestown (there were only two of them). The campground sits along the shore of the reservoir about 7 miles north of town. It is in the low ground, so the cell signal is pretty nonexistent, and you had to be fairly close to the office to get any wifi signal. There was no "check-in" per se, and the one person we could find who claimed to work there decided to take a couple days off, so, there was nobody around to assist when we had questions or wanted to leave a day early. In the end we just packed up and left and then sent an email to recreation.gov requesting a refund for the last night.
The camp sites are nicely spaced out, and access to the reservoir was super easy. Our kids played in the water for a bit, so it was nice to get out and get wet.

This park is part of the ND Bureau of Reclamation. The fee per night was $27 but with senior pass, we paid $12.50 for full hookups.
PROs:
* The CG is approximately 30 miles from Jamestown, ND;
* The check in was okay for this older marine/dam campground along the James River dam;
* Has playgrounds for kiddos if applicable and large beach area to the water.
CONs:
* older campground and the sites are close together and not level - okay for a one night stay;
* we were able to back our 40+ plus rig into a site but I would recommend smaller rigs for this campground. There are a couple of sites you will be okay if you are large but not recommending;
* very poor connectivity, the CG is down low to the river so poor line of sight for anything;
* only two over the air TV stations.

Families from the area come here to enjoy the lake. This site had limited cell service (no data) so we couldn't stay even if we had wanted to. There were no walking paths, no tv service and was used mostly by the locals to swim, boat or fish in the lake. There was a restaurant combined with the office. The sites were not good for Motorhome and spaces were pretty tight. This was definitely not my favorite campgrounds but they do have healthy weekend traffic from mostly locals. They also honor the Senior Pass so rates were 12.50 for us. We gave up the prepaid amount to leave the grounds early.
