Let's get this straight: This park is NOT "right across the street from the beach". What IS right across the 4-lane boulevard is the PARKING LOT for a public beach. The water's edge is another 500+ yards distant through the dunes. A LONG walk, carrying beach gear, in ankle-deep sand. More about that below.
We spent 5 nights at Pelican Nest and, if our schedule had permitted, would have stayed another 3 or 4.
This is a very compact park, so expect to be squeezed in between your neighbors. Our #11 space was on a level gravel surface with a nice concrete patio at our front door.
The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The owner/manager came out to greet us, stopped traffic on the busy Bienville Blvd while we backed into the street to be better positioned to enter our site. (He was also out there on moving day, again stopping traffic while guests left the park.)
Laundry has two washer/dryer sets, clean and reasonably priced.
Now, some advice about the beach. Drive your vehicle across the street to the parking lot and park on the left (East) side. Take the boardwalk to the pier that extends across the barrier dunes. At the end, down the steps, then a short 250 yard stroll to the water. Oh, yes. Pack light. As an alternative: Drive West on Bienville Blvd until it ends at the West End Public Beach parking lot. You can see the water from the parking lot.

Stayed one night . Got called into the office next morning after setting up camp. The owner stated that she lost our paperwork and we would have to leave. We had our whole family 2trailers , grandchildren too. My son is disabled and on dialysis. I told her we were from Tennessee and didn’t have a place to go. She said go on down the road or we would be towed. Never tried to help us at all. I was in tears ! Plus we rented a golf cart. Couldn’t get 500.00 back. Don’t ever go there snd if you do make sure you have you pay up front. She told us we would pay when we got there and the credit card add for if you didn’t show she would charge it. She spoilt our whol weeks vacation!
