We got into Pelican on a Friday around 2pm. Plenty of vehicles at the fishing access parking however no one in the camp area. 5 sites. Two sites have river views, possible river access, #4 and 5. #5 is near the parking area. We chose site 3. Some views of the river. Nice large open site with Big Sky views. Train has gone by 2 times. You can’t see it but you can hear it. No problem for us.
Paid for the conservation permit however no camp fees at this site.

Used to be free but now requires a Montana access pass. It’s 10.00 bucks for a year and that covers all of Montana. Did not use the restrooms I believe it is 7 day max stay. Train right next to the sites but no biggie for us We drove to Natural Bridge Falls. Highly recommend. About 40 minute beautiful drive.

We arrived and we’re pleasantly surprised to find 5-6 nice spots for any size rig. Easy access on and off I-90. Pit toilets, picnic table, grill/fire pit. Quiet night with only 3 other campers/ vehicles there and only heard the train once. I would highly recommend

Nice long & level site we fit in and did not have to disconnect. A couple of the other sites were shorter. First come, first served and FREE! Loads of mosquitos in the late afternoon - only bad part. We love the Montana Fishing Access Sites! Video of the campground & info on the FAS: https://youtu.be/gG-j6hxhSSw

Next to the campground is a popular boat launch but it is quiet after dark. Gorgeous area with rolling hills and snow capped mountains in the distance. Trains run nearby and slight I 90 road noise but awesome camping for free! Thank you Montana
