Paydown Access

This place is very remote and lovely.

A couple things not mentioned in the other review. There is one disabled spot that is double wide and paved. The restrooms are also accessible. And speaking of restrooms, there are two and they have real doors as opposed to the fence like doors you get at some MDC locations.

Sites are well spaced and each has a fire pit. We never saw another person or car down the six mile gravel road.

You are a reasonable distance, about 30 minutes to Rolla which will have everything you need. You are also close to Linn where there is a grocery store and McDonald’s.

My only complaint and it it minor is there are a few neighbors within a half mile or less in every direction that have these super bright lights on a pole. It is supposed to be rated as a dark site in Missouri for telescopes but those lights really do light up the night.

My husband and I have different cell carriers and neither had service. We didn’t miss it but if you are a person needing to be connected to your phone, this is not the place for you.

The restrooms were completely clean and did not stink even a little.

Lastly, I took some photos but they are pretty much the same as the other review so we’ll skip them.

You drive 8 miles down a dirt road to get here but it’s worth the drive. 6 gravel sites; pit toilet. River access. No hiking trails in the vicinity. During the week it’s very quiet. The locals say it gets busy on the weekend. Nice birding spot.
