Does Patterson Pass Campground have a check-in process? Like signing-in with a BLM Ranger? Thank you!

About a mile up the road off of Highway 50, gravel Road. We had no issues pulling our 32 foot fifth wheel camper up here. Found a campsite nice and clean. Nobody else is here which is a shock since it’s so nice up here. Bathrooms are clean, and we appreciate BLM for offering this service.

This CG was developed for users of the Silver State OHV trail and that's why I was there. Apparently very few people use the trails because they have been reclaimed by nature. I explored all of the trails at this end of the trail system and not one was in even fair condition. Without a good offroad GPS like onX, you cannot navigate the disappearing trails.

Staying midweek, we had the place to ourselves. This BLM Campground is nicely built and maintained with gorgeous views. Tables, fire rings, pit t toilets, some shelters. Situated among junipers, there is shade and lots of sun. And the wind can really blow. Very nice stop on a lonely highway.

Amazing spot! Perfect for a stop over or a few days. FCFS, bring your own water, no hookups, pack it in/pack it out. The views! We stopped over and it was chilly on a late June evening (thanks to the elevation). We will definitely be back!

We only saw one other camper during our stay.

Patterson Pass BLM campground has twelve gravel sites ranging from smaller tent-sized to very large suitable for anything. There are also a few pull-thrus. All sites have a table and fire ring and some have a shade structure as well. Most sites are well spaced with some vegetation separating you from your neighbors. It’s at 6150 feet elevation so it’s a good choice if you are looking for cooler weather.
The only amenities are vault toilets (which are in surprisingly good condition) and trash cans. The location is one mile off of Route 93 so you can barely hear road noise even during the day.
There is signage on Route 93 indicating the turnoff, and the one mile section of dirt/gravel road between the main road and camp is well maintained.
This location is the north trailhead to the Silver State OHV trails. I have stayed at all of the SS Trails campgrounds and traveled most of the route, and in my opinion this is the best camp and also has the best section of trails. If you just want to camp, don’t let the potential OHVs scare you away. It’s usually very quiet and even the people riding are usually out for several hours so it’s not like noisy dusty vehicles are constantly coming and going through camp.
AT&T had a decent two bars of coverage without needing a booster.
