I stayed very close to the viewpoint, gorgeous and the site was somewhat secluded! And I could video conference. Overall great experience

Next time, I would ask if we could walk the loop to find a better spot. Still good though! I enjoyed the walk out to the point, the trees & the quiet - very few people here in September. The campground below down by the beach did have a lot of campers though!

Hours 9:30-4:30. Cost $10. They prefer cash. As far as fresh water to fill your tanks there is a spigot in the parking lot of the park’s visitor center. All in all very quiet. Sites were not on top of each other. Trinidad State Beach and Moonstone Beach are dog friendly. Many places to eat between the park and McKinnleyville. Safeway in McKinnleyville for supplies. Coin showers and flush toilets are open.

Little hiking trails zigzag to the numerous lookout points with gorgeous rocky views. Especially nice for the ocean sunsets.
The reason it gets some points off from us is because it is very dog unfriendly. No dogs on any trails, paths, lookouts, basically everywhere. And over the years the deferred maintenance has piled up. Downed trees left for years, broken railings, steps, picnic tables, etc...But the no dogs (even on leash) is why we just never stay more than overnight. We were first come-first serve , which is ok for ONE night only.

We love this state campground. Lots to do in the park as well as around the area. Get reservations if you want to stay longer than a day. Trinidad is just down the road for suoplies and exploring.

As I walked the park I noticed that there are varying degrees of privacy to the different spaces. Nice hiking with a beautiful view of the ocean. If you are tent camping do not use 0-78, I picked the only site that wasn't level and had to put my tent on the parking pad, which still wasn't bad. Great spot if your in an RV due to the size of the space.

We arrived after 5pm and due to my disabled veteran card we snagged an ADA site - one of a few with electric hookup in the Agate Campground. Camp host said "its after 5pm, grab any site that is marked available". Showers were a little sketchy so we passed on showering there; however the restrooms were clean!

Enjoy your stay!

After spending a month in many beautifully maintained Oregon State parks, it was incredibly disheartening to be back in my home state and see how poorly maintained and neglected Patrick's point state park is. The trails and scenic wonders of the beach , bluffs, and forest did much to revive our spirits but the campgrounds are disgraceful. We asked to be moved to a different site after finding that our reserved site reeked and was disgustingly FILLED with feces, urine stench, and rotting fruit. Agate loop is dense with over grown shrubbery and vines, sites are small, not level, and the restrooms were horrible. The bottom of the stall doors are higher than the toilet seat, they are dirty (not in a nature campy way) and dilapidated. The showers are on par with the bathrooms. Walls that were way too short, I would not have been able avoid seeing the entire upper half of a person in the next stall. A quarter buys you 30 seconds of COLD water. The wooded, more spacious Abalone loop was better, but still had lots of trash around, poor bathrooms and even poorer showers. The roads within the park had areas that were very narrow and rough with some tight turns that would be difficult to impossible for bigger rigs and no signage to alert visitors of this. The park web site and reserveamerica both list a dump station as an amenity but the dump was not working and clearly hadn't been for some time. Since we boondock on BLM and FS land interspersed with state parks in order to get access to showers and a dump station, this was a problem for this visitor's well planned trip. This spactacular place deserves better treatment and the high fees in totally full campgrounds sure don't seem to be going into the park facilities.
