Parmenter Campground

This campground is owned by Brookfield Power who owns the dams on the Raquette River system. The campground is on Carry Falls Reservoir. It's located on Route 56 between South Colton and Sevey's Corners (intersection of Rt 56 & Rt 3). There is a sign by the road, it'll be located at the end of the Hollywood Road. The road in is very good. There is no phone to the campground so it does not accept reservations, has 16 sites, a caretaker from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Before or after those periods camping is first come first serve and free but there is no water and bathrooms are closed. When caretaker is there it is $16 a night, has compost toilets, a couple of water spigots and a dump station and each site has a picnic table and fire pit.. Any camper who paid for a site may go to its sister campground, Blake McNeil (about 10 miles away) to shower. A few things to consider, some of the sites the fire pit is on the opposite side of your RV door and the dump station is also on the opposite side. So there will be some adjustments. About 7 of the sites can take a 26-30 foot RV, but it is tricky backing in as the entrance to some of them are narrow. All sites are pretty flat for tents. There is a boat launch and large parking area. Carry Falls is long (about 7.2 miles) has very good fishing. I've stayed here several times and is quiet on non-holidays. Fills up pretty quickly around the holidays. There is no cell service without a booster.
