This is no longer an EnRoute Campground. Not much anywhere nearby for RV or van camping. You can hike in and pitch a tent but it is expensive and first-come, first-served. No real cell service.

In an area that has no legal boondocking and campsites start at $60/night, I was grateful to find this little gem!
The camp host was friendly, helpful, and welcoming and invited me to park anywhere, but that the corner next to the trash cans was the flattest, although not completely level. I walked to the upper parking lot to pay the fee at the self-pay area of the ranger station. There is a bathroom with flush toilets and a sink with cold running water next to the ranger station.
There was only one other van in the lot all night in addition to the host. Hwy 1 traffic is detoured through the park and goes right by the campground, so there is some road noise, but it's dark, twisty and windy, so there wasn't a ton of traffic.
Mt. Tamalpais is ruggedly beautiful and amazingly close to San Francisco. The road to get here from either direction is challenging and not advised for vehicles over 35'.
TheGalavan would stay here again
