Every time I come up here (which isn't often as its so remote) the camp occupants seem to be a train wreck waiting to happen. I just stopped in for a short break while exploring the area recently and did not stay. The 2nd time I've passed up on this camp. This time I was discouraged by the lack of camp host and several campers with ATVs and trucks who seemed content at drinking and driving at 10am while tearing up the lake bed and acting like idiots. Figured it was going to turn into an all-night party by the looks of things.
The water level in the reservoir is way down this summer and there was no access for any watercraft. That left the dry lake bed open for the ATVs and trucks to run amuck. Fire danger was extremely high this year and with no water available to douse a campfire I was really surprised to see that fires were even allowed.
The camp itself is decent - basic gravel sites with tables and fire rings. no potable water is available in camp except at the host site and that was turned off for the season. There is water available at the Forest Service camps along the road coming here. Not a lot of privacy in the camp as the sites are close together and no shrubs or small trees to break up the camps. If I had to stay here I'd opt for a site in the 19-23 range. They're smaller double-wide back-ins but are set away from the more crowded northern loop. 18 was a large pull thru site set away from the main loop as well. the two pit toilets seemed fairly clean given the lack of on-site staff to maintain things. and the day-use / picnic area was well kept with freshly mowed grass. The camp is all gravel but the road to get here from Highway 93 is a nice 2 lane paved road so access isn't an issue.
It is a beautiful area and I want to like it more but the noisy party atmosphere in camp always turns me away.

“Park near lake when not dried up”
Reviewed 9/7/2021
We went here to stay on the lake and fish, but by Labor Day weekend the lake was dried up and no where near this campground. It was now a mud boggy place for off road trucks and atvs. Sites seemed kind of close to each other.
Heather would stay here again
