“Just Outside of Payson - Quiet”

Overall the park was quiet and well kept. The manager/owners are friendly and work hard keeping the park in good shape. Many of the sites are occupied by full-time residents. Probably 50% if I were to guess. I didn't use the restroom facilities.

Located about five miles outside of Payson, close to the Mogollon Rim and lots of exploring opportunities.

Only real negative, besides the weak cell signal, is some of the sites are very narrow. Not much privacy. I stayed here in the winter so the park wasn't very full.

We came upon this campground via Passport America. They had a spot for 3 nights. A terraced campground, about 50% 'permanents'. The NFS campground was full so we tried this. Friendly hosts. Clean park. They do seem to care about it. Close to Payson. Also close to Lake Roosevelt, Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, Tonto National Monument. WiFi is not very usable but ATT is wonderful as a tower is about 1/4 mile away! About 1/2 mile away from the highway so it is very quiet. You go through a rural neighborhood to get to the park but don't let that deter you.
