I took 395. It’s sometimes windy. If it’s windy, just go slow.

Depending on where you are coming from in SoCal, it is either the CA-14 to the CA-395 north ot the campsites or I-15 to the the CA-15 north ot the campsites. The road is relatively straight, not challenging for a RV. There are some interesting areas on the way up. If you have time check out the Alabama HIlls.BLM area on the way up - interesting topography and some great boondocking sites.

We came south from Lee Vining so I can’t give the complete route from SoCal but I would travel to Mojave and take CA-14 north to CA-395. We took the reverse of that and then west to Bakersfield to get back to the Central Valley.
