“Dogs Not Allowed On Water Front ”

I forgot to mention in my previous review the dogs are not allowed down on the water area. That’s the whole reason why we stopped there. Again cross country trip, first and only lake that doesn’t allow dogs

Michigan state parks have a great system, that's always a nice experience. It's the grounds. I had to try 4 spots before I could find one. The first one was gusting wind my hat flew off. The one way with tight roads and the trees make it odd to pull in. But then the electricity was far away and in weird places. Then nothing is level. It was extremely frustrating speaking over an hour before I said F It and just did a pull thru in a less optimal location. Oddly the guests weren't kind either. After a month on the road, all I've have is wonderful experiences, people and camp sites.
I work remote so work on the road, bad service which sucks when using your own internet.
Maybe the local like it but as a broad traveler, it was the pits. Got up and left at 7am with a 1 pm checkout.

Recommend south side outer loop sites based on size and privacy. Had heavy rain and many sites were flooded, however, our site did not. Great spot to access lake. Service for working remotely. 3 min drive to The Natural golf course.
Rig Mama would stay here again

Very well kept county park. Staff very nice and accommodating. We made reservations online and happen to choose a site that was a little wet as they have had a lot of rainfall, the staff told us upon arrival. So we checked it out and it was wet so they had other sites available and cheerfully gave us a site of our choice. The park is divided into two sections. One section is more for families with children. That section the sites are closer together but are close to the playground and showers. The loop that we stayed at was a little more spread out and larger sites. Bathrooms were probably the cleanest ones we’ve seen considering the amount of campers. They have a beautiful beach, picnic area, (including two pavilions), and a great boat launch with parking for boat trailers. They also have cabins available for rent. They sell firewood on site and deliver to your campsite! All sites are well kept and fire pits clean. You do however have to buy a pass to get in, very reasonable I think. Very pet friendly. They only have one dump station so your can expect to wait if you are leaving at prime times. There is a nice store that is about a quarter of a mile from entrance. The city of Gaylord is about 5 miles from campground. The lake is very large and clean. Overall we had a great time and plan to stay there again.
