Free spot right on the edge of the east side of the Grand Canyon. Nice fire pits everywhere and lots of dry wood around to burn! Good service. 10/10

We followed user “ChrisRoams” directions along with the gps route. Drove no more than 1/2 mile in and found a level spot for the night. No one else around, quiet and dark!
Perfect place to rest up if coming from the east.

I stayed on June 18,2021. It's about 12 miles away from the east entrance. the road is bumpy so I didn't drive deep into the forests. It was very windy and I could hear the traffic from Rt64 all night. Good place if you can't get any other campground.

Nice boondocking right outside the east entrance to the south rim. Grabbed the first spot big enough for our 30ft 5th wheel but after scouting realized I could've gone another mile or two down the road where there were some nice big, level sites, and still had places to turn around if full. But since we were the only ones there, and cell service was better closer to the entrance, we stayed put. Very few people came through on the week we were there. 35-45 minutes to Tusayan, through the park, for groceries and gas. Highway noise will probably be bothersome in peak tourist season but wasn't bad in early April. Smaller rigs will have endless opportunities for sites. Probably only 3-4 spots for motorhomes and big 5ers. But there's a few more opportunities across the highway so if this doesn't work for you I have no doubt you'll find somewhere else close by to park for a night.

Wirklich gut für eine Nacht muss ein Insider sein. Nur noch ein zweites Wohnmobil hier. Feuerstelle ist auch vorhanden und genug Holz gibt es in der Umgebung

We followed the instructions of the previous reviewer and found a great spot for our toy hauler. We went to the Grand Canyon for a day but the weather turned. We left very early the next day because it rained, snowed and the wind was a severe weather warning during the night. We were afraid the road out would be too muddy to get our big rig out.
Would love to come back time permitting and better weather.
We did go for an ATV ride, the area is beautiful.

This spot is in a grove of cedar trees along an old alignment of AZ-64 which parallels the current alignment. It also happens to be in a thin strip of Kaibob National Forest between the Navajo Reservation and the National Park which makes it prime dispersed camping real estate.
AZ-64 is far enough away that no road noise was perceptible inside the camper but a few vehicles did drive up and down the old alignment which is right next to the site.
There are a few loops and spots among the trees suitable for small trailers or motorhomes but are likely too tight for big rigs. Some spots are more level than others.
To access turn East onto Forest Road 6104 and then follow the paved road arcing to the right onto the old AZ-64 alignment. It’s still fairly well graded with an old strip of asphalt down the middle. As soon as you join the old alignment you’ll start seeing spots in the trees to your left.
