The park was very quiet 99% of the time. The only noise we experienced was during the University of Georgia football game. As soon as Georgia won, everyone retired to their campers and all was quiet again,, GO DAWGS!

Very well managed, very clean, beautiful lake and convenient to restaurants and shopping. A great ACE hardware in town and a nice drive to Madison, GA to see historic homes. Somehow the town survived Sherman’s march through Georgia.

After arriving after dark with a half functioning headlight on my vintage vehicle, I was greeted by the host which was very accommodating and helpful. It wasn’t until morning that I realized what a beautiful campground and slot we had. It is quiet, shaded with power and water hookups as well as washer/dryer and clean bathrooms/shower facilities. While I didn’t get to fish or swim at the beach, I’m sure that was good too. Thankful several folks recommended this from the local restaurant and it was so close with the power issues we were having. Enjoyed the stay and hated to leave.

While mostly a typically equipped state campground, what makes it 5-star for me is the cleanliness, the spacious sites, the shade, the lake view, there is a metal fishing dock. It was peaceful and quiet even though it was pretty full. And only a couple miles from a Publix and other stores and restaurants. I will definitely return!

We are 9 days into our stay here at Old Salem and it has been nothing short of fantastic. The only "complaint" might be that the sites don't have sewer but that was fine with us. The showers and bathrooms are clean and maintained. Hard to find a bad site here but I would recommend 91 for privacy and 85 for water views. There are plenty with water access, mostly private, a beach, 2 boat ramps, 2 playgrounds, and tons of day use area. Lake Oconee is popular for fishing and boating (rentals nearby). Fantastic dining within 3 or 4 miles of the campground as well as every basic amenity anyone would need. Only 7 miles off of 1-20 is well worth the trip for a great stay. There is a microbrewery in Greensboro and I would recommend a day/evening trip tp Madison just to see the beautiful antebellum architecture and nice spots to eat around the square.
Bonus - Eat at Filet Steak and Seafood :)

Satellite reception is hard to get because of the trees. Lots of deer to watch. There are quite a few ants outside, but we had ant granules and spray so we were fine. The bath houses and showers in our loop were very clean. It was quiet on our loop, but the loop closest to the water was quite a bit noisier and the spots are closer together there. Verizon wifi reception was good. Boat ramp was nice. Right now, some of the areas are still closed due to Covid restrictions. Publix very close.
