Unfortunately there is a really bad section with huge holes in the road, rocks sticking up, around a corner and a steep upgrade. Most cars, if the person cares about not ripping out their underneath turn around. A lot of four wheel drive vehicles with small campers turn around.
Atleast they are able to turn around.
The spot we found alot of people have to back down where we are camped to turn around.
There are only a couple places to camp that we saw here and one before you get here and I walked it. I wouldn't drive into that one. One side of the driveway in is basically gone.
We are not even sure what's on the other side.
If you're planning on finding a place, unless your high clearance four-wheel drive and in one self contained vehicle I wouldn't recommend this place.
We were very lucky to find this spot.

Would never come back here again, in fact, I’m getting close to never considering a dispersed site in the state of NC. Once again, a dispersed area that is not suitable for RVs or travel trailers. There just aren’t any spots an RV or travel trailer will fit. They also require permits on weekends from May-October (they are free, but only 50 allowed per weekend). Which is odd, because I only saw a handful of campers but the information line indicated all 50 were in use.
Needed 4x4 to make the last hill. This is where is stopped and turned around.
For anyone trying to dispersed camp with a travel trailer or RV, just head west; there is nothing for you in North Carolina.

Very bumpy road. I live in my Van "VANILLA" full time. I drove slow to prevent anything in my van from falling down. Other people were right on my back bumper, I had to pull over to let them go by and they just drove off fast. I didn't like that too much. Otherwise the place was awesomely quite. No bugs.

I've moved around to several sites along this road in the past 2 weeks. The road must've been redone as it is an easily drivable dirt road. There are so many sites tucked in; side with beautiful views. 5G service on Verizon and weaker 5G on Sprint/Tmobile. About 10 cars a day drive by with more on the weekends.

Fairly good number of campsites of different qualities. Sites range from multi-tent sites with fire-rings to heavily rutted single car pull-offs. I would recommend searching a little and not just selecting the first one.

There were a couple of okay looking campsites but for the most part what I saw was just a sort of dirt path bulldozed off the road to create somewhere to throw a tent. Good place to arrive late and leave early, but I'll admit I was grateful to have a free place to stay right by the blue ridge parkway.

Tried to camp here, didn’t find much and the road was getting worse. There were a couple trail heads, one definite campsite and a couple of places that were maybe campsites. Wouldn’t recommend for anything other than tent camping.

Larger campers can make it, but be warned, some of the campsites are smaller than others. Neighbors are nearby, but not too close...you can hear them, but can't see them but they didn't bother me. I think there are 14 campsites. I found a large private campsite; fairly flat and hard packed sand. Site 3. Could fit a larger RV and truck in mine easily. 1 bar with Verizon. 2 Dropped calls. The day I was here was around 75 degrees, but it was a very cool night. 50 degrees. No bugs to speak of.
