together. Site was not that level, but we made it work. There was some garbage, but we cleaned it up. Enough driftwood for fires. Windy but felt great - the mix of the heat and breeze. You could hear tons of birds and it was very quiet most of the day. We fished off the shore, We swam off the shore. We walked often and enjoyed the sunsets and sunrises. The bathrooms had showers and several stalls plus were clean. Water spicket at bathroom. Not the best water. Dirt roads and some sharp turns and dips down, but we fit great with our dually and 42’ fifthwheel.
The neighboring sites used generators all evening through the morning and that was incredibly annoying. Be considerate people!!! We literally had a beach front spot secluded and couldn’t see anyone neighboring us it was gorgeous serene solitude until 11pm when they started their ridiculous generators. Even with all of our windows shut you could hear it. If you HAVE to run it all night- Get an inverter asshole. So beware! Some people suck at boondocking.
Service wasn’t that good. Little internet in the morning the non existed in the evening not sure why that happened. Our t-mobile phone barely worked. Verizon was a little better. We drove to town to work.

After traveling for about two months, this is hands-down the best site we have been to! We arrived here after putting in directions to the Eastshore Army Corp of Engineers site. After some confusion about where we were, we recalled being told by a fellow camper that some of the Army Corp sites had been turned over to the state. There is little information and no map when you arrive so we set off on foot to see what was open (not wanting to take our large rig down a road we were not sure had a turnaround!). The sites are spread out and setting off on foot wasn’t the best idea. We settled on site #3 near the very nice and clean comfort station (water, toilets, showers and storm shelter). I would suggest pulling up the satellite picture on Google before you go so you have an idea of the layout.
Most sites have a picnic table with really nice covered pavilion, privacy and lots of space. Site #3 had an amazing sandy beach with easy access. Sites #2 and #4 are also on the same beach. Sites that were further away had pit toilets somewhere close. There were a few sites that seemed a little more exposed. We had a substantial storm come through and I felt a little more comfortable being where we were and close to the storm shelter (although we didn’t have to use it for that purpose).
The area was pretty quiet during the week, but once the weekend rolled around it seems that local folks from Pierre come up and snag sites ahead of time. Since many of the sites are big, you can cram a lot of people in them. We were next to a raucous birthday party one night. However, the privacy, beautiful beach, cool water and amazing sunsets make this the nicest campground we have been to!
In addition to the $14 fee you have to pay $6/day state park pass fee or $30 annual pass. We didn't keep track of specifics, but we had no problem with our Verizon cell service here.

17 boondock sites on the east side of Lake Oahu, 332 miles of lake from Pierre, SD to Bismarck, ND. $13/night plus daily fee of $6 per vehicle. Yearly pass is only $30.
Most sites can handle any size rig. Great views.
