if you do camp, the registration person is friendly and informative. the sites are clean and the some has extra parking space (maybe for a fee but no camping on this extra space). the site 2 has a good view of the lake. we paid half of the camp fee due to our pass. we got lucky and saw deer and squirrel up close. it would be 5 stars if the dumpsite was working. per the ranger, someone broke it by jamming the pipe into the dump (a newbie?). we assumed that they would have called someone immediately to fix it but it's been 2 days and still closed.

This was our first time staying at Oh Ridge and I was a bit disappointed at how close together the sites were. Luckily, we had a wide open area at the back of the site with a great view of the lake and mountains, and we also had friendly, respectful neighbors. I liked how the loops are organized with the (clean!) bathrooms in the middle and 3-4 potable water spigots spaced around loop as well. Most sites didn’t seem to be within walking distance to beach, but without kids and gear, it wouldn’t be so bad (and there is plenty of parking at beach). We saw a family of deer twice a day pass right through our site. Showers and laundry available for fee at private campground next door, although we didn’t get any noise for using our outdoor shower and shower tent. If you can, fill up with fuel before you hit this area. Being close to Yosemite and Mammoth, diesel was nearly $6/gallon and gas wasn’t much cheaper. Cell coverage was great- able to work remotely no problem with video calls.

We were pleasantly surprised by the “bowl” effect by the massive closeness of the mountains with the lakes sitting in the center! Awe-striking views… easy access to gorgeous June Lake! We rented kayaks at June Lake Marine, only 2 miles away on south shore.

June Lake is absolutely beautiful, Gull Lake down the road is smaller and also beautiful. Fantastic when the wind isn't blowing to kayak and paddleboard (but watch it close because conditions change quickly). Several times when we were the only ones on the lake but I imagine it's quite busy June-August.
Campsites don't have much vegetation so you see all your neighbors but the loops are pretty small. Even if you're in one without a lake view it's easy walking or biking distance. Some of the sites have shelter things that provide some wind protection.
Highly recommend going to Obsidian Dome, Panum Crater, Mono Lake (to see the tufas), and doing the June Lake Driving Loop while you're here. There are a million forest roads to take on your bike or car (if you have 4WD). A trip down to Mammoth is also fun, the ski area was open since it had snowed and there were folks in their swimsuits snowboarding. Pretty funny.
