The campground was quiet. Folks were spaced out and all super respectful. My kids loved playing along the lagoon in the trees and shrubs and watching the birds from the boardwalk.
The best part were the trails that can be accessed from the campground. They led through dune trails with beautiful fauna up to the beach.

Walking to the beach, staying here also grants you free day use at the Oceano vehicular recreation area, skip the line! Shower is warm and water is good. Well maintained and friendly staff. Nice lagoon to walk the dog as well.

Reserved sameday. Sunday, November 26th. Stopped here on the way back home from Santa Barbara heading toward SF Bay Area. Water and electricity were part of the camping spot. Dump station at the North Beach Camp grounds.
No one at the gate. No camp host. Maybe 1/2 full. Very quite.

We stayed one night at Oceano Campground (site 23), and enjoyed the amenities. The ranger station wasn’t manned when we arrived on a Saturday, but the campground host was available for questions. The bathhouse nearest our site had three individually-locking toilet/sink rooms, three shower rooms, and an open air kitchen-style sink. We didn’t try the shower. There’s a token system with a kiosk located halfway between the two bathhouses, and supposedly one token (unsure of cost) gets you three minutes of water in the shower. Electricity and water hookups were very nice to have. I’m not sure about the closest dump site, since we were headed to another campground that had a dump station. We especially loved the walking trail around the lagoon, and the walk through the dunes to the beach. We would definitely return!

Close to the beach but much more noisy than oceano dunes! Music blaring until way passed quiet hours… and nothing done about it. Pricey- especially for what you get! For some reason camp host wasn’t anywhere to be found today. Ranger program was cute for kiddos. Not sure we will be back.

This is one of my favorite places to stay. Quiet (there weren’t too many kids). Inexpensive ($38 a night with my senior discount). Ambiance (you can hear the ocean waves all the time).
Even though it’s water and 30-Amp power all the time, I really like this place.
Arrival was smooth with a check in at the ranger booth (it’s a state park). I had to book one site for one night and a second site for another night…there weren’t any two or more night stays in late winter when I stayed here.
Couple of tips;
– Bring extra rubber garden hose gaskets for fresh water connection because otherwise, the water will leak enough to flood your pad. I was out of gaskets so I had to cut the thumb off of a clean disposal rubber glove. (This is my last resort, as I have to over-tighten the connection and it’s difficult to remove when it’s time to leave.)
– If you’re an internet connected TV watcher, my Verizon service was good but my hotspot’s service was in-and-out. Luckily, I have a Solis Wi-Fi hotspot that isn’t on the Verizon service, so I constantly had to access my Solice dashboard to change to a better service. Ultimately, I was happy with the signal that I got, but my third and last resort was to set up the Hughesnet as though I were wilderness camping.
– No sewer service, but dump station is only 5 minutes away. Moving campsites the following day allowed me to make a quick run to the dump station. Dump fee is $10.
– Two restaurants grocery store all within a short walk’s distance. Beach is also a short walk’s distance. Your automobile pass (if you’re towing) gets you on the beach with your vehicle.
– Don’t get too close to the water when driving on the beach because the sand is like quicksand. I have a hummer, and while I was on the beach, I saw a Land Rover buried up to the doors with the tide coming in. It’s not unusual for someone to think that their 4-wheel drive vehicle can take that type of sand - but it can’t. Save yourself the towing fees and steer clear of the water.

Campground was clean and quiet. Bathrooms were great nice and clean and sanitized every morning. Had to stay in the back section with no hookups. Couple of days very windy. Was able to drive on the beach every day. Camping on beach is closed.
