Cost is because we have park pass. Glad to have E/W as temps were high while there. Close to AFB px if you are a vet.

Each site is well spaced from the others and the picnic tables all have a covered structure. Hubs checked out the restrooms- all of which are fairly new... and said they were nice, but too many flies and insects to actually use. Just a beautiful place.

Overall a great stay. Quiet Roomy place with lots of space between sites. Bathrooms clean. Site 17 had some great shade but needed extra care in pulling out since branches were low for our 13'2" 5W. Blackwater Draw and Norm & Vi Petty Music Museums a great side trip.

We stayed at Oasis in space 26, a handicap space. The only difference between the standard sites and the handicaps are the handicaps are paved and all other spaces are gravel. The roads throughout the park are paved which made it easy for me to get around on my mobility scooter. The handicap and other large sites do not have shade trees but the patio pavilions are covered at all sites. Smaller sites have nice shade.
The location is nice. It is only a few miles out of town making it convenient but far enough out that it was really quiet. The biggest downfall was the amount of flies!
The park has a nice playground and a stocked pond. Unfortunately, when we were there, the pond was full of tumbleweed. The rangers were out cleaning it out and volunteers came out over the weekend to work on clearing it out.
The sites have power and water and there is a dump station on the road out of the park. There are conveniently located bath houses. I checked it out and it seemed serviceable. Overall, the showers and restrooms were clean except for a lot of (dead) bugs on the floor. That is to be expected out in the dessert and since they were dead, it shows the bath houses were being exterminated.
Cell service on Verizon was 2-3 bars but talking to others in the area, AT&T usually gets much better service in that area.
Overall, it was a nice place to stay for the price. Reservations are made through Reserve America (https://newmexicostateparks.reserveamerica.com/). The site fees are only $14/night but there is a reservation fee also.

The park also has its own website which was much more palatable to use and we could see that there are several nice electric/water first come, first-served sites. We could only reserve one night and needed two which was why we were in two sites (moved to a non-reserve site the next day). Not much to do here but if you are not looking to roam around, it’s a nice spot.

Best shade in afternoon: site 12. Most sites not much shade.
Quiet spot, good stay if you’re doing back roads instead of I40. Sites well-spaced, beautiful trees, big night sky.
T-Mobile good enough for zoom call, Verizon was not.

The campsites are well placed so that even the small campground doesn't feel crowded at all. While I was here it was very windy which I suspect is common, tumbleweeds piled up everywhere. The water level in the pond is low and it is full of tumbleweeds as well.
Water and power at the site worked fine and the bathrooms were immaculate, hot water in the showers after a few pushes of the button, it only runs about 10 seconds per push!
Each site has its own trash can and it appears to be emptied regularly plus they are dotted about all over the park. There are a few short trails in the park but not much to do in the area around.
A previous post mentioned walk-ins, you can turn up and hope a site is free but you still have to make a reservation online even when you are at the campground, this seems to be normal at New Mexico state parks.
I would have no problem staying here again if I had a reason but it's not a destination.
Starlink roaming worked fine.

Quiet, well-spaced campground. Recently renovated bath house, very clean with showers and flush toilets.
Self-checkin. We had reservations, but it looked like some open sites were available to walk-ins.
Campground is very open with shade and wind breaks at picnic tables. Surrounded by grasslands and breezy so burn ban in effect for grills and campfires.
Bring what you need, as Portales is 8 miles away and Clovis is 18. Great sunsets and sunrises. Nice. Would stop here again.

This is where I spent the Labor Day holiday weekend. It was a nice quiet park with prairies all around. This next shot is my campsite, actually only half of it because it was so shaded at that...
