Awesome lakeside camping with sunset views on a clear water lake! We stayed here at the beginning of the week and the campground was not busy. Our site 95 was a huge back in site with electric only. Lots of grass and trees between us and the lake, but no shade in the afternoon. The sites next door 96 and 97 had more shade and I would book those if we come back. There are paved trails around the campground. Birds everywhere. Booked online and checked in at the front office. This is a well
maintained park. The nearby Fort Randall Cemetery and Chapel are worth a visit.

We were here in the middle of the week in May and were lucky to snag a water front sites for our 2 night stay. This is a former Corps of Engineers facility and that is apparent in the layout of this park. Large, level and roomy sites with plenty of room with ample space between sites as well. Plenty to do here with lots of interesting history in the area. The hiking here is not as good as other SD Parks -- more like walking trails. Lots of water activities if that's your thing, though we opted not to get out our inflatable kayak here. Our site also was west-facing so we could sit out and enjoy a couple of beautiful sunsets.
Easy access to here off of SD 46 with large approach and interior roads to the campground. Certainly any sized rig can get a spot here. There is a two-lane dump station and water fill area near the check-in booth. Didn't use any of the bath/shower facilities while here.
Highly recommend this campground.
