North Lake Campground

All of the BLM sites near Taos are currently closed, I presume because of Covid. Makes camping in this area a big PITA. But the drive here was beautiful once you go out of the residential areas and the stars would have been amazing. Oh well.

The actual campground has a closed sign up and appears to be under construction. However if you loop around towards the boat ramp area there are some signs with arrows and pictures of tents and some parking spots within this. Then there are multiple covered picnic areas. We opted to park in the parking spot closest to the picnic table that was right next to the lot and set up camp. It didn’t really seem like a spot but we were right next to a camping sign so we went for it. There were numerous other walk in picnic/camp areas although I have no idea where one would put a tent as it’s not flat anywhere. We stayed here one night, enjoyed the views and walked around the lake and the trail. The game warden drove by once but didn’t bother us at all about our parking/camping situation.

Downside- no cell service at all
