“Beautiful Last Minute One Night Stop”

Reviewed 3/31/2023

Nightly rate: $20

Overall Rating

Beautiful state park for a last minute overnighter in a self-contained RV.

Over night camp area is level, clean, quiet and secure. It costs $20 per night which is well worth it.

This is an Enroute park which means camping is short term and campers must depart by 9am or purchase a day use pass for $8 in order to stay in the park after 9am.

We camped here when it was too cold to swim, but can see it’s a great spot for paddleboarding, swimming, small craft boating, etc. The beach has a roped off swimming area and the lake is shared with the local aquatics club.

There are lots of trails to walk that are dog-on-leash friendly with a couple reserved for hikers w/o dogs. One trail loops into a larger county trail that’s perfect for a long cycle, walk or jog. It was a great 30 minute out and back for a gravel bike.

Rattlesnakes are noted to be in the area, but we did not come across one. Lots of varieties of birds including cranes, geese, duck varieties, quails…at least that’s what they looked like to a non-birder.
