Beautiful view of the badlands. You are right on the edge wall of the badlands. A lot of people there, but they were spread out and could see the sunrise and sunset.

Location was very nice, lots of places for vehicles as well as tent camping. The road to it was fairly nice, a couple holes but easy enough to move your vehicle around them. There was also a walking path up a hill to oversee a good bit of the badlands. If you come in on the Pinnacles Entrance, the dispersed camping will be on your left before you get to the entrance, turn at the two towers. GPS brought me in on Bigfoot Road which will dump you right in the middle of the Badlands, so take a right once you get to hwy 240 and go all the way to Pinnacles Entrance and turn right at the two towers, if GPS does the same to you. Some old petrified cow poop, but easy enough to find flat spots around that. I wouldn't say it's private but it is pretty.

Do not stop at Frontier Cabins for water. They no longer give or sell water. We filled at Sleepy Hollow in Wall. Took second entrance on Sunday and a left at the Y around 3:30 and had no trouble grabbing beautiful site although it was busier than we expected. Hard packed gravel/clay road that was rough but no trouble for 36 ft 5th wheel if we take it slowly. Windy at times but that kept us cool as temps were in high 80s mostly. Biggest issue was dust from inconsiderate speeders. We left 2 days early due to rain forecast and concerns over what that would do to the roads getting out. Very quiet and spacious even with many campers there. Groceries a little expensive at Wall Food Center but got what we needed. Laundry affordable and decent in Wall too.

I think that Nomad View, Steer Pasture are the same place. The park ranger called it by two other names when we asked about it at the south entrance. Basically you turn east toward the radio towers just beyond the north entrance and follow a dirt/gravel road along the ridge and find your spot. The radio towers meant lightening fast cell signal and we hot spotted and were able to watch videos. Not a piece of trash in sight, everyone was quiet and respectful and gave each other space. We chose a prairie side view to avoid the winds at the bluff and it was a lovey evening with no amenities except connectivity, space and quiet. Could not even hear neighbor's generators when they were occasionally fired up.

Location to the national park and Wall is excellent.
We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon, 1pm-ish, and were shocked at how crowded it was already. Didn't have trouble getting a spot but definetly did not expect to see as many people camping as we did. Entered on the second road by the two towers, definetly the way to go.

We arrived Sept 11 at around 3:30 and the 'wall' was pretty full. We did find a fantastic spot at the turn around area when you head right at the Y junction. Weather was perfect, slight winds (thus no mosquitoes) and highs in the low 80's. Cell reception using TMobile was 5 bars. Make sure you bring your binoculars and also go into Badlands National Park as what you see at the 'wall' is just a tip of the iceberg. Would have stayed longer but had to move on to Custer, SD

I found people to be friendly and respectful. No true campsites, just find a place to park. I stayed two nights. One night was windy and had occasional showers. So cozy! Put me right to sleep. The next night was pretty calm but I expect there is always a bit of breeze up there. Solo female traveler approved! Wall is just a few miles away for supplies and the national park is just down the road.

This campsite was only a couple of minutes outside of the park. It had great views, a ton of room for camping (RV,trailer, van, tent, etc), and it was free!
Make sure you keep weight in your tent because the afternoons can get windy.
